Champions injured after winning belt

I don't post much but js curious as to what the ug thinks on this issue. I've seen a few champions get injured as soon as they win that belt. Is it to hold on longer to it in hopes of getting sponsorships and endorsements? Is there an advantage? Phone Post 3.0

Maybe they're actually fucking injured

I know Weidman has defended his but js made me wonder abt the others tht do it. Phone Post 3.0

Maybe...maybe not. Phone Post 3.0

Name me a fighter who pulled out of his pro debut due to injury.

It's risk and reward.

Once you are champ you no longer must risk it all since you have the reward.

Guys are injured always.

It's only once they are financially comfortable that pulling out of a fight seems feasible. Phone Post 3.0

Great point sir. Phone Post 3.0

If I were to form an opinion that favors the champions I'd say that once they get the belt they are less willing to risk fighting injured.

Example: Pettis would fight injured to chance getting the belt but not risk losing it while injured. Phone Post 3.0

Makes sense Phone Post 3.0

I'm not positive, but I believe the UFC sends the athlete's to see their in-house doctor to determine the extent of serious injuries, and goes from there. Now with that said, I'm sure the UFC doctor would also want to milk it a little bit to err on the side of safety.

Weidman ducked Vitor sooooo hard.

TRT gets banned, Vitor doesnt have time to clean system, Lyoto takes place, Weidman gives it some time for the waters to settle, Weidman pulls out.

So Vitor cant fight in July? Mhm... okay Phone Post 3.0

I would think it would be opposite. The UFC would rather have the doctor say they can fight. I think this is why a lot of athletes go to their own doctor rather than the team doctor. Phone Post 3.0
