<p>The Pennsylvania Athletic Commission overturned the result from the June 27 Charles Oliveira vs. Nik Lentz fght due to an illegal knee thrown by Oliveira on the downed Lentz, In an interview with Gracie Mag, Oliveira responds.</p>
Gracie Mag: You admit you threw an illegal knee but the fight wasn’t stopped and you tapped out Nik Lentz. On the occasion you took the “fight of the night” prize. What are your thoughts about them changing the result to a no contest?
Charles Oliveira: Shoot, what happened is that they gave me the win. The right thing to do was to have the ref stop the fight, at most penalize me a point, and let the fight start again. But no, the fight continued. I know it’s not the UFC’s fault, but it is the Athletic Commission’s; I think they were too hard on me. Jon Jones threw an illegal elbow, the judge stopped the fight, the athlete didn’t return to fight but they gave Jon Jones the win. Jon Jones threw an illegal knee on Shogun, everybody saw it, but they gave the win to Jon Jones. So I don’t understand why they went an overturned the result on my fight. But that’s alright, I’m happy with what’s going on in my life, on to the next one. It’s all in the past and now I’m focused on Cerrone.
It's not really too hard, that knee clearly affected the outcome of the fight.
The ref fucked up by not stopping it, but at this point it is what it is and the proper response is to treat the fight as if it was never finished. He should enjoy the 5-figures he got for it and leave it at that.
I like Oliveira but he's wrong here, Jon Jones didn't win against Rua because of some illegal knee? Jones whooped Rua's ass and Rua finally fell down and tapped.

Jon Jones had Shogun basically finished before that knee landed, and it was not nearly as bad as the one Oliveira threw. Oliveira finished the fight because of the knee.
I guess he'd rather have a loss on his record than a no contest. He deserves a loss for the simple fact that it took him more than 10 seconds to finish Lentz after illegally kneeing him right in the face.

Hahahahaha he's suffering from a bad case of lost in translation and just being immature. The kid is twenty-one. He's already a great fighter and the maturity will come eventually with age.
i don't see what choice the AC had. the incompetancy of the ref forced thier hand. if the ref saw what every single other person in the building saw then point would be deducted and the ass whooping would have continued.
Jones didn't hit Shogun with an illegal knee. He was still up when it landed. He also didn't land any throat strikes. Dean warned him to avoid the throat when he was throwing elbows to Shogun's chin on the ground.
