Chavez 97-0 in boxing

I heard Mike Tyson say this today in his shot little interview when asked who the Pound for Pound best boxer ever was, I could have sworn he said "Chad" though, unless Chavez nickname is "Chaz".

Tyson who is really humble said he used to think he was the best in the world. I am sure he was at one point and will be one of the greatest Heavyweights of all time.

Chavez was 97-0 before he was finally beaten. I doubt PBF will reach that.

Chavez was great, but not definitively the best ever, he arguably should have lost to Taylor, always leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of fans when a fighter wins a fight they should have lost rather than just losing. Phone Post 3.0

Golovkin has the goods to be on the list climbing the top 20 in 5 years.

In ten, he could be making Floyd's legacy seem tame due to his crowd pleasing terminator style with big bruising knockouts.

Taylor was out on his feet. Ref made the right call. Phone Post 3.0

Well #1, he was 87 and 0, not 97 and 0. #2 his first 44+ fights all took place in Mexico against people who were selected to lose to him.

Chavez was a good fighter but not in the conversation for greatest ever. Floyd actually has a much stronger career in comparison to Chavez.

Chavez was gifted a draw against Pernell Whitaker and as awesome as Whitaker was, he was no Ray Robinson- prime Ray Robinson would have destroyed Chavez.

Yea I know he was 87-0 but boxers like Mike Tyson and other fighters CLAIM that he was really 97-0..because they believe the Mexican record. hahaha..true story.

Anyone who lost to Frankie Randall cannot be considered the Best Ever. Randall was good but he was no world beater. Although Chavez got his revenge, he still lost 4 more fights later on while fighting past his prime. While he may have won his first 97 fights....like someone else said most of his early opponents were local Mexicans who probably were not real boxers.

Cab drivers.....

ShanTheMan - Cab drivers.....
Greg Haugen pre fight - "Most of Chavez's wins are against Tijuana cab drivers."

Greg Haugen post fight - "Those were some tough cab drivers." Phone Post 3.0

I think Mexican boxers have better recognition than any other country.

Julio would have beat the brakes off of Floyd...He was past his prime when the Sweetpea fight happened.

Angelo Dundee said he was the toughest fighter he ever saw...he is probably about the 20th greatest fighter ever.

The fact is Mexico doesn't have a strong amateur system. While Chavez went pro at like 15 Mayweather was getting brought up in the ammys and headed to the Olympics.

So Mayweather was 84-6 before he ever went pro.

So Chavez was basically 44-0 before he started fighting world class fighters. Between 44-87 there was a lot more filler in Chavez record then there was with Mayweathers.

Mayweather fought the great Gernando Hernandez 17 fights into his career and has been fighting the absolute best ever since. Phone Post 3.0

Chavez was begining to slip when he lost to Frankie. He also never got revenge. He was rocked and turned boxer (with Manny Stewart in his corner) and quit when he got cut and was gifted a tech. Dec. He had dq loss to Jaime Balboa early in his career that disappeared from his record.

Tyson prime top 5, he was definitely the top HW in the world at one point.

Mayweather fought the best yeah right. Has been ducking manny for years Phone Post 3.0
