8. Isaac Hayes // “Chef” on South Park

In 2006, Isaac Hayes wanted to leave South Park after nine years of voicing Chef, as he was deeply offended with its creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, for criticizing Scientology. Hayes, who has been a Scientologist since 1993, asked to be let out of his contract with South Park. Chef was killed off in the season 10 premiere.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends, and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," Hayes said in a statement. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

They continued to chop up and use his dialog in more episodes, he was not happy

It's amazing how he had zero problem with them demolishing everyone and everything else other than scientology over an eight year period, and as soon as they went after that he was offended. Total joke. Anyone who gets involved with scientology is a brainless mark.

Shit was funny yo.

The Scientology higher ups weren't happy with Isaac when he died.  He didn't leave them enough in his will.  You're supposed to give them a lot if not everything.

I think there is a mixed story here

The one side has it as chef made these decisions

The other side says it was people around him

He had no idea what was going on at first. Scientology already made a statement that he quit. He denied it and spoke about how it was a big part of his income or something like that.

Shortly after he made a statement that he quit. It was pretty nuts as he was a big part of the show.
