At what point do you think the effects of being choked too many times will start to show. I know boxers begin to show signs of "punchiness" as early as their late 20's. In Japan, Judoka's choke the crap out of their junior players (until unconsciousness many times). Knowing quite a few elderly grapplers, it seems that choking has similar effects of it's victims too. And from the sheer number of typos I continually make, it seems I'm headed there too. Thoughts?
For me personally, when I run out of juice, and theres no more juice to come out, thats when I know Ive choked it out too many times. It usually takes me a day or two, and then I can get right back to choking it out again and again.
classic. i think protein bars may help...
it also appears that the more times somebody has been choked unconscious, the less resistance against passing out he'll have the next time. and it get's shorter and shorter from what i've seen too. seems guys that are ko'd by punches have the same signs.
Good post Gordon... too many people let thier ego get in the way...
that silly tv doctor said its like a mini-stroke every time
What happened to William Bittencourt?
the 1 on the recent talk show with dana and luke and forrest...
"id rather be choked out a million times a nd be slow as fuck when im 50 than play it safe and not be remembered."
remembered as "that guy who kept getting choked out"? the only person I remember getting choked out is Royce (Wallid). and thats definitely not the reason hes on my wall.
no reason to go to sleep. if its on its on. come back tommorrow and try again.
if you tap before you go completly out it wont have any effect at all
If your constantly letting yourself be put to sleep, your an idiot anyway and who cares what happens to you when your 50!
Choke outs are indeed unhelthy and if you may have circulatory conditions you can suffer mini and not so mini strokes. So the moral is learn to grapple enough to know when you are cough. There is no difference between tapping as the room is tunring dark and when you are actually asleep. You've lost at both points. Nor is there no honor in not admitting defeat and passing out. Everyone knows you where defeated, just means you're too inexperienced to realize it. On the other hand tapping when you feel pressure on your neck is a bad thing too.
still, i wonder how long it'll take until signs of "chokiness" show up. i think if you fight a choke properly, you'll still take some damage re: brain cells. i had a friend who had to stop training for a few months because he fought an rnc until his windpipe fractured (?). he had to lay off grappling because his doc forbade him from taking any undue pressure in that area.
Getting choked out or getting knocked out by a kick to the neck are WAY less harmful than getting the shit knocked out of you like everytime Tyson's been knocked out.
Just tap though. There's no special place in heaven for people who don't tap. Plus, you do weird shit when you get choked out and everybody makes fun of you. I sincerely believe that Royce was out against Yoshida the first time, cause I've seen a zillion guys get choked out just like that and immediately pop up and make a scene like that. A few times they didn't even remember grappling or the choke. They still thought they were warming up!
BTW: Bittencourt passed his driving test, so he's back on the road! He's back training again and is as strong as ever, even after the accident!
AMAZING recovery story
a very high blood pressure makes you pass out earlier,
plus it increases to danger of vessels popping.
kicks to the neck are more dangerous because of broken
vertebraes that can rupture vessels.
being ko`d by punches makes the brain itself swell
which leads to errors in functionality.
withstand as long as you can, but as soon as it`s over,
it`s over, walk over, gratulate the guy and be merry to
have learned a lesson.
just my op.
Just give it your best escape attempt then tap if that doesn't work. Not worth it unless it's for a lot of $$$.
sadly, i think we don't know when the effects are going to show up until they do. i was thinking that i'd blame getting choked too many times for calling my girlfriend some other girls name.... :-(
ttt
Ive choked my chicken one too many times..
