as a fighter - If you had to choose between having the build of Bob Sapp or Semmy Shilt - which would you pick?
I'm not talking about those fighters' individual skill sets. I'm talking about a fictional scenario where some kind of genie or whatever offered you the chance to be the size of one or the other and you would be stuck with that size for your fighting career.
Beep
Neither extreme is optimal. Sapps body will gas you out, and Semmys height will make it hard to pack on strength against HW's.
If I had to choose, I'd pick Semmy's. There is a reason Marius shedded tons of weight to try and compete, with that much muscle, you had better pray all your fights last only 1 round.

Well - the real reasons he probably shredded weight was because it was bound to happen at the level of cardio he needed to do to prepare for MMA and I doubt he could get away with the level of juice he was doing in strong man contests... but I understand your point.
In mma id pick Sapps size probably. Kickboxing or boxing id pick Semmy
Semmy, kickboxing OR MMA.
Gives him great control on the feet and those long legs help with subs like triangles on the ground.
Semmy.
Kyotaro could barely reach him, being 6'11 certainly has its advantages.
i think people would find it much harder to train for a 7 footer.
chris80cent -Chris Power - Semmy, kickboxing OR MMA.Did not think about submissions. You may have just changed my mind...

Only reason I really thought of it is because he got so many triangles in his MMA career, haha.
ranier wolfcastle - i think people would find it much harder to train for a 7 footer.
Are you being serious? Haven't you seen Pat Barry's video guide to train for a 7 footer? :)

Lol that video was awesome! If i was on my pc i would post it.
What were bob sapps pride stats?
I'd take Bob Sapps size. At least if I wanted too I could attempt to slim down.
Semmy for sure, then I would play in the NBA and not get hit in the face for a living.

or start with semmy's 7 foot body and eat lots horse beef, with steak and chicken.
sapp, he's been able to make a ton of money in MMA and movies based on his physique and size without having much skill.
Semmy....Look at how far Jon Bones Jones has gone w/ his reach, despite having Bambi legs, skinny emo wrists and annkles, and the smallest biceps and thighs in the LHW division w/ a chicken neck and narrow little head.
A HUGE thick, strong, fast, powerful 7 footer could go REALLY far if he started wrestling and BJJ at an early age to go w/ his K-1 Grand Prix champion level kickboxing
Although someone like Sapp could go damn far too w/ his insane frame size/thickness...natutal raw strength, NFL level genetic....if he too started wrestling in junior high, BJJ at the age of 2, and started striking as a teenager, and trained technique, power, strength, speed at a world class MMA gym w/ world class coaches.
Sapp TRAINWRECKED Ernesto Hoost (TWICE !!!) and nearly killed PRIME Noguiera, basically as an NFL reject that came straight from Toughman in his late 20's or early 30's
you can never get taller but you can always add muscle. plus it's not like schilt was a weakling. plus sapp was slow as shit.
