I just happened to see Chuck giving a speech for Gene Lebell and I decided to look up his martial arts rankings. He has a 10th degree black belt in his art of Chun Kuk Do, 9th in Tang Soo Do, 8th in Taekwondo, a black belt in Judo (I'm guessing from Gene since he has known and trained with him for over forty years) and a black belt in BJJ from the Machado brothers. Dude seems like an overall badass. That's one 73 year old I wouldn't mess with.
yep...you are about a decade behind.
I use to watch his movies in the 70s 80s, just to see the one judo throw and grappling technique he did in every movie. But back them, pre-gracie, no one thought grappling was cool but use wrestlers and judokas.
Dude is an all around Martial Artist.

I always thought he was just a karate guy. I used to love his movies when I was little but never noticed any ground work or judo throws. Cool to see that he is/has been open to all types of martial arts and different areas of learning.
I haven't seen a Chuck Norris movie in so long. I think I should go on a download binge and watch a bunch of his movies.
What are some of his movies that are actually worth watching. Other than game of death and delta force?

Sidekicks was one of my favorites, but truthfully I haven't watched a Chuck Norris film since I was about ten so don't know how much I would like them now, most were pretty corny.

Yea I saw some video from like the 89s or something where he was doing a seminar for which he brought some of the Gracies to America, pretty sure Royce was even there. Chuck Norris is a little over the top but you can't deny his dedication to martial arts, even at 73 I'd say he wipes the floor with a good 80% of the worlds population, and that's somewhat a conservative estimate IMO

He brought over some Gracies for a seminar in 1988, 5 years before the first UFC.
Heh. Chuck Norris has had a ground game longer than most people on this forum have been alive.

Chuck Norris movies was good back in the days, but times moves on, and like a lot of 70ies/80ies movies, they have not aged well. However bad some of todays movies are, the art of movie making has improved.
Acting is poor. Plot is silly and predictable. Action is over-coreographed and/or just plain ridiculous. There are a few action scene gems, but they are usually not worth sitting through the rest of the movies for.
But the same can be said about most moves from the period.
He got his BB in Judo in the 60s. When I was getting starting in martial arts in the mid 70s he had a city vs city kickboxing league that allowed hip tosses. The Jet beat Chuck's bodyguard Howard Jackson with a shoulder breaking hip toss in one of those events.
Norris is a legend.
