Tatame.com caught up with Javier Mendez, founder of AKA, and coach to former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, to discuss what's next.

“Cain knows he blew it, that he stopped before (Junior Dos Santos), but he’s confident that he’ll have the chance to fight for the championship again. Possibly in two or three fights from now. He first has to prove he deserves that chance, so he’ll have to defeat his two next opponents, or at least one in a convincing way so that Zuffa says “ok, you deserve another shot”. When Zuffa offer us that fight, we’ll work on it."
“When we started training, the first thing I told him was not to trade punches with Junior. I told him not to stand before him because the guy is a great boxer, the best in the business. Once you do that, you’re screwed. I did my job. The fight presented itself, Cain stood in front of him for a seconds and Junior landed a powerful right hand. Junior came prepared, Cain was prepared, but the win went to the one who first imposed his game, and that was Junior."
I wish all fighters and coaches could be as honest as Mendez. No excuses about ring rust, sickness, or anything else. He just gives credit JDS and highlights the mistakes Cain made. Very refreshing...
I like how the coach has to promote himself in the article "I told him not to stand before him because the guy is a great boxer, the best in the business. Once you do that, you’re screwed. I did my job".

I wouldn't be to keen on Mendez' attitude in the article tbh. You always hear coaches using plural personal pronouns: "we did this, we did that". Mendez seems to eager to absolve himself of blame.
Infamous Ed - Problem is...it seems to be rather difficult to get him to the ground.
Cain shot once... Junior will be on his back more than tito"s wife IF he holds the title long enough to meet Cain again.
Woha there Buddy...U realize how many films she starred in?! Lmao
