The prolonged contract negotiations between Strikeforce and M-1 Global over the services of Fedor Emelianenko have reached the point where Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker can joke about it.
“I’ve been back and forth, back and forth. The lawyers are going back and forth, back and forth. We’ve already been in touch with the State Department about calling the Kremlin and giving us a hand to finish this contract,” Coker said Monday on the Sherdog Radio Network’s “Beatdown” show. “I think we might have to go through the government to get this thing done. In all seriousness, I think we’ll have something to announce here real soon.”
Fedor lost quickly and legitimately to a guy he wasn't supposed to and he isn't even that well-known by most MMA fans. If they do any contract negotiations it should be to lower his pay IMO. I don't really see what leverage M-1 has in this situation.
Please move on from this silly mess of a fighter and his managment. I'm tierd of hearing about it and just don't care anymore if, when or who Fedor fights. Fedor will not in any way sway me to watch a Strikeforce show. You did just great on your last show without the biggest pain in the ass in mma.
No one has ever answered this - how is it that Fedor and his team can re-negotiate an already signed contract after every fight? Seriously, how is that?

because strikeforce/coker let him get away with it,,,bottom line...aloha
This is exactly the reason why the UFC does not co-promote or allow guys to do as they please with other orgs. Can you imagine if the UFC had to go through this kind of a mess with all the big name guys trying to re-negocoate after every fight, even losses. We may never get to see good fights again...

So anyone on the roster can do it?
Can't they just say to Fedor, "Hey, you signed a deal for three fights, let's go."

Because M-1 claims after every fight that their partner's did not live up to the terms of the co-promotion deal. They did it to Bodog, they did it to Affliction, and now they are doing it to Strikeforce.
The only difference is, they haven't sued Strikeforce (yet), but I am sure it is only a matter of time before they do that too.

Everyone else on the roster has a contract with Strikeforce. Fedor does not. Fedor has a contract with M-1. Strikeforce can threaten M-1 (good luck with that), but they have no hold over Fedor.
un3rgr0und - Fedor = most over hyped, overrated fighter EVER
Sounds like you just started watching MMA this year.... He is definately not overrated as he beat the top guys consistantly at their prime for 10 years. Overhyped, perhaps recently, but his record speaks for itself.
What I will say is the demands M1 puts on orgs for his services are completely outrageous....but that does not mean the man is overrated by any means. He earned his spot in history and that you cannot take away from him.
