Can anyone enlighten me about the numbers used for various moves? 10 is supposed to be a head kick right? Jab, cross, hook is still 1,2,3... What are the other numbers?
Liver Shot!
5 is the dreaded "Golden Palm"
Wait, so you are saying that the numbers stand for an entire combination, not just a single technique?
1-Jab
2-Cross
3-Hook
4-Overhand rght
Up-Upper cut
1- jab 2 cross 3-hook 4-uppercut 5-hook/body
as far as kick numbersive seen them vary in different gyms.
but Bas Ruttens bag workout cd would be a good reference
From what I understand. Odd numbers are your lead hand, even numbers are you rear hand and go like this for an orthodox stance.
1-jab
2-Cross
3- left hook
4- right hook
5- left uppercut
6- right upper cut
7- ?
8- ?
9- Left kick (high, mid, or low)
10- right kick (high, mid, or low)
I have had some trainers that tell me 4 and 6 are interchanged.
"1- jab 2 cross 3-hook 4-uppercut 5-hook/body"
That's the way I learned it. The kick numbers are new to me.
Does anyone want to share the kick numbers they use?
Thanks parrishmma! That is exactly what I am looking for.
Can anyone fill in 7 and 8?
Is anyone using a different numbering system?
after 1,2 and 3 its different for everyone
What die damage do they each do though? Jab is d4 right? Uppercut d10?
7 and 8 are front kicks from where I learned
1-Jab
2-Cross
3- Left hook
4- Right hook
5- Left uppercut
6- Right uppercut
7- Left Front Kick
8- Right Front Kick
9- Left Round Kick
10- Right Round Kick
I had no idea that 3 is specific to a right hook. You learn something new everyday. Interesting that knees and elbows don't appear in there. Is this an American kickboxing thing?
The number system is,in sure, widely used. I can guarantee that most of them are different. Trainers use them the way it is easiest to remember, to them and their fighters. I use a number system but it consists of single techniques as well as combos.
Cruz Gomez
Bobby Lupo -BUFFGEO - after 1,2 and 3 its different for everyone
this. 3 is a lead hand hook.
pretty much - way we learn at our boxing gym:
1-jab
2=cross
3=lead hook to head
4=lead hook to body
5=back hook to body
6=uppercut (either hand)
i think its diff everywhere though
Every gym has it's own set and many gyms change it for each fight so no one can pick up on them.
