Computer zapped, how to figure out whats wrong?

Hey guys, I went to turn my computer on by touching the mouse(it was in sleep) and something must have short circuited in my computer. The power to the house went off, which happens quite often anyway with random electronics. The computer was plugged into a surge protector, I went over to turn it back on after I got the power working again and it wont start, and I smell a burnt smell. Pc is really relatively new(2 years old) without much usage. What should I try first to figure out what happened? Thanks.

Check the power supply.
if you know how to use a meter, the the output voltage.

Yeah, power supply is the most likely culprit. If the PSU was of shitty quality, then you could have fried components also.
