My girl made a decent point, in response to "how are people so good at carving pumpkins?":
"For artists, that's easy. Pumpkins are inexpensive and easily aquired when it comes to things to practice on. Imagine an ice carving or wood carvings. Scrimshaw? Are you fucking kidding me? The real question is why? Why decide to become awesome at carving pumpkins? The fuck is that about?".
P.s. scrimshaw, if you don't know, is a super intricate carving made of ivory or whale bone. Fuck ups are expensive...
The Rogan one is a foam pumpkin. This was established in the voting thread but went unnoticed or ignored. Kinda bullshit to let them win still. Just look at the pics, the unlit one is a dead giveaway, plus the lit one has a yellowish tint when legit ones look more red-orange. I still beat it so it's no skin off my chin, but rewarding that effort is wrong.

I know tuck66 probably spent all the money and is on his way to the Mexican boarder but, I believe he paid a carving artist to carve a foam pumpkin. Presuming the guy carved it himself, I can't really see the problem with the foam pumpkin.
Early in the contest thread, somebody suggested using them and nobody said anything then.
Every year there is some hiccup or cause for complaint. A few years back, people were upset with the "shaved" pumpkins - because none of them looked like jack-o-lanterns.
I like these contest and would humbly like to suggest a UFC pinata contest down the road.
