Conor Vs Diaz "A Ponder"

MY THOUGHTS GOING INTO THE FIGHT:
I thought Conor would win. I believed in his power in the left, his movement and his speed would be enough to beat Nate. I also thought that if there was a fight to make where Conor was not going to get rocked then this is it. Conor has a great chin (he took Mendes's punches) and Nate is a volume puncher not a power puncher how could he KO him or even rock him.... In what universe would this be possible??? The only part that made me think was mmmmhhhh how will Conor go against someone with more height and more reach than him...... we have never seen him fight someone this long before. And as per Robin Black said "Nate fights even longer by the fact that he leans in when he punches and has even more reach"). As for the weight difference.... well as my brother Jason said "They both weighed the same approx on weigh in and both were under and it's not like they went out and put on heaps of weight between weigh ins and fight night! they didn't cut weight... same same).

THE FIGHT:
Conor was exciting to watch and it started just as I expected Conor throwing the huge left, uppercuts and throwing lots of them, and throwing them with POWER. He was connecting some but not all and that's when I started to think....... man he is swinging and missing a lot!! He is not coping with this range he is not adjusting, why is he throwing so many haymakers!! what the fuck is he doing? Is he going to fuck this up in the process of wanting to make his prophecy come true? (KO in the 1st) I started to think.... are we witnessing a one trick pony here.... this can't be true... surely... This is Conor Fucking McGregor!!

(TIME OUT - Lets face it you can bring in all the sparring partners you want, a sparring partner is not the same as the real thing, otherwise Connor would have a plan B. Or is it just that he never trains for the opponent... he just trains so he can adapt to anything? That's what he says isn't it - so why was he not adapting???)

Conor continued the round the same way he started hitting Nate hard but Nate would not go down! What next Conor thought... Oh I know let's start round 2 doing the same thing... no conservations of energy just the same shit!!! But Nate being a Diaz just weathered the storm... he realized, he knew that the punches where losing some steam, his corner was screaming it out...they knew it too!! Diaz started rolling his hands and he realized "I can take these punches mother fucker" and he starts to really throw them back with sass. When conor got hit with one fatal combination that when everything changed, Diaz smelt weakness like a shark in water and it was the beginning of the end for Conor.

It was not Connor gassing that forced connor to go to the ground it was Nate's combos that rocked Conor enough to make Conor think that if I dont go down I'm getting KO'd..... it was a choice Conor made. This is where I believe it gets very interesting and tells us the most about Conor (FROM A CONOR FAN MIND YOU) ......Conor went to the ground because he chose to - he tried a shitty takedown when he had to for self preservation sake.... lot of fighters do this, go to the ground to recover or recuperate...... "is normal" but instead of trying to pull of some sort of strong manly guard and block punches from guard, half guard or even full mount at least (which happened a tiny bit)!! he just turned into a lethargic, rocked, zero energy mess and let Nate do whatever he wanted with his body... I mean fuck!!! I was screaming at the screen thinking Nate could have performed a "punch fisting oil check" here and Conor would have let him., it looked as if Conor gave up...... I hate to say it but that's what it looked like.... Where was his heart? .... is it really all about money for him? I don't know..... is this heart thing something this is in you or it isn't? Diaz had it and he won...... he won with heart.

Props to Conor willing to fight anyone. We all know that these super fights and multi weight challengers are extremely rare and we hardly get to see them and we want them as fans! I thank Conor for that and hope this is a start of something new and exciting and I hope to see more fighters getting paid to take on awesome matchups.

And props to Nate for taking this fight on 10 days notice, not in shape and giving us the fight of his life...big respect 209 MF.

THE UFC:
I get it now and they are right, make the big fights now, all now!! cause if you don't they may never happen again. Everyone get paid for sure that way and the fans love it. So the next fight to make is Nate vs Lawlor cause that's exciting and there is a lot of money in that one... regardless if it makes sense or not - it's just a huge fucking fight and that what the UFC are doing these days, yeh we want belts n shit but last night was not for a belt and it was fucking awesome!!

WHAT NEXT FOR CONOR: I think he goes down to featherweight and uses his reach and height to own them all.... It will be interesting to see how his chin holds up and what his opponents do...surely you just take him down... if you can and do an oil check that's how you win.

The Hype Train slowed down last weekend and Conor got off at the next stop....... for the time being until he wins and then the red panties come out again... as for now its Diaz that has the whole lingerie drawer and potpourri smells delicious!!

WAR DIAZ YOU HAVE SOME HEART AND SOME SKILLS

CONOR... LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU IMPROVING AND WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU TRY AT WW AGAIN BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL TRY WHAT YOU DID.

Fucking hell... A for effort, man. That is one long post but I was entertained nonetheless. I agree with most of what you said and am also looking forward to seeing what happens in their respective futures. We can only dream that a majority of fights we watch are this awesome.
