Two men laying against the cage looked like the bar scene from Al Pacino's 'Cruising' although I argue they were a little harder on each other.
Cormier fought a safe fight to get a win in order to move forward.
It is ok and it is understandable but it's not going to get people to pay to see him or start demanding he gets a big fight.
Matt Brown is likely much less talented.
However more people would pay to see him fight after his bout on FOX.
It's about money.
If you just want to be sporting about things, go pay to enter the Mundials where nobody pays to watch.
In the fight game you need to be someone good enough that fans don't view your fight as a chance to hit the head and make a last beer run before the main event.
Cormier beat Mir but lost momentum.

IMO he hurt his own stock with that fight. Casuals will see Frank as a bum, not a great fighter that Cormier outclassed.

He landed a couple kicks in the third, even in the first round it looked like he was fighting under water, his punches were taking forever and Cormier already landed, got out of the way and than worked him on the fence once he closed

I'm a stone cold hater of all things lay and pray, wall and stall, and jab and jog, but I didn't think his performance was THAT bad.
He did a fair bit of fighting. I'm fine with some criticism though. He did seem to play it a bit safe. His fights with Barnett and Silva were better. I really hate that fighters can go "Well, this is a risky fight so I'll just play it safe and fight less" and the judges reward them for it. Fighters should have to fight with the opposite mentality, not of being reckless, but of laying it all on the line to achieve the best victory possible.
But Cormier was only a little guilty of any stalling. He did throw a lot of hard strikes when he had Mir against the cage.
At least he's honest about it not being a good performance and not deserving a title shot after it. Hopefully he's a bit more aggressive next fight for all our sake.
But...but...but Ariel said it was a great fight!
Everyone knows DC can be an exciting fight but his last two fights have hurt him.
He shouldn't be thinking about cutting weight to make LHW. He should be dropping 20lbs of fat first, and then cutting from there.
