Watching the ufc tonight I saw that they had the national Cornhole championships on tonight. It’s basically the ‘bean bag’ game… I had no idea that there were Cornhole tournaments or that it was taken that serious
The game doesn’t seem like it would require a great deal of skill or tactics… am I wrong? Anyone in here a competitive Cornhole player?
I’ve seen it on ESPN before. It doesn’t require much skill at all. You’d have to think almost anyone could dedicate a month of their life to it and become a top notch player. My only problem is I’d get bored in about 3 games and it’d feel like work.
A skill game requiring hours and hours of practice and repetition… ud be surprised at all the different strategies involved in cornhole
I am a fire fighter in for a while we played corn hole for hours and hours at the fire station. Our ladder captain was a catcher with the Oakland Athletics for a couple years before getting hired with the fire department …, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that he became the best cornhole player at our station and probably on the department.
How’s he doing these days? I know he had a rough spell at the end of his career. I’m not religious at all but I remember seeing his story on YouTube some years ago as part of a book written about life after baseball. He seemed to have found peace.
I like playing but I’m not setting up a tournament or anything. When tailgating in the fall we’ll set up boards. Of course of the day we’ll rotate around, probably end up playing 3-5 games total. We don’t play bust.
If having enough people over to the house will setup too. Maybe it gets used a good bit and somedays only a game or two is played. Pretty casual. Can drink, talk to friends while playing, and you’re outside enjoying weather so that’s a good combination
I made my own boards. This is the only pic I have of them lol painted them all black and then put the state of Michigan on them in the center. The bags I bought on the “official” cornhole website. 4 red bags 4 blue bags, all have the American flag on them
The local bar I use to frequent holds indoor tournaments every year. Me and my boy joined one year and we only got two rounds in before these old heads absolutely crushed us. They were damn near as good as those guys on ESPN lol
