Costa Rica Honeymoon TME

Me and the wife are going to Costa Rica for our honeymoon in a month.

Neither of us have ever been. Anyone have any experiences there? Are there places I must go to? We want to do beaches, rainforest, arenal volcano, etc.

Thanks in advance gents Phone Post 3.0

Excellent! We are going for 17 days. Manuel Antonio is def in our list.

Was thinking about heading to Jaco on a friends request to party for New Years.

From there maybe head down to Oso Peninsula for some rain Forrest action.

Then maybe head back up north towards volcano and some major beach time.

Want to get to Quepos/Manuel Antonio as well.

We were thinking about using costaricarexperts.com to book are lil puddle jumper flights and all that. Open to thoughts/ideas from some peeps that have been there. Do I go that route? Or plan all on my own?

Any suggestions would be great. Phone Post 3.0

i used an agency called "costaricaexoticanatural"........kind of dinky website and makes you wonder how good they could be

https://www.facebook.com/costaricavacations?sk=wall

but they were excellent in our planning or activities, hotels, and transport

CR has an extensive "interbus" system comprised of full sized charter buses to little mini vans........works surprisingly well and on schedule.......its great that you are spending 17 days there bc sitting in a little van with 4-6 other random people driving through diff parts of the country was one of the best parts of our trip

im sure there are OGers here that at least layout a general itinerary for you

look for screen name "Pura Vida"...he runs a yoga/BJJ retreat in CR

I went there for my honeymoon. It was nice. Did Arenal and all that. Arenal was frankly the worst part of the trip. 6 hour drive from San Jose and we never even saw the stinking volcano even though our hotel room had a nice view of it. Foggy as shit for two days up there. Really enjoyed the place we stayed at on the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula. Took a shitty little plane there from San Jose, driving wasn't recommended as the roads on the way there can get washed out.

I am in for learning about CR as well.

I have been everywhere else BUT CR. So far I have not heard anything that would want me to go there compared a place like Brazil or Maui, HI. Well, except for the surfing in CR is fun and good. But besides that I wonder what else it offers compared to places like Brazil or Hawaii?

the thing with CR is that there are many diff environments and climates that you can see in 1 trip....the people are some of the friendliest, non money hungry (unlike mexico) and not annoying......if you want the coke and hookers party scene, CR has p0laces like Jaco to do just that....very versatile as far as trips/vacations go

the main attractions of costa rica however, are there flora and fauna.......the natives are just as excited about their wildlife as visitors are.....it's really like the jungle book down there

hawaii has all the volcanos and tropical beach stuff...but hawaii is so damn expensive

brazil im sure has a variety of climates, but is a much larger country to see them all...also safety is a real concern in brazil

I saw a sloth carrying it's baby along a power line my first 30 minutes of being in Costa Rica then I met this chick who spent 6 hours at some nature park looking for one and didn't see any lol Phone Post 3.0

My wife and I are BIG beach people. Most of our vacations have been beach-related - beachhouse rentals in FL & TX, Hawaii, honeymoon in St. Maarten (which was AWESOME)...

As such, we really thought we'd mainly enjoy the beaches in CR. Surprisingly, we liked the interior the most. We stayed at Los Lagos http://www.hotelloslagos.com/ for a few nights, and really enjoyed it. The rooms all had windows that faced Arenal, and Arenal was active while we were there. Several times a night we'd hear a rumble, and could look up from our bed and see steam coming up & lava coming down the side of the volcano.

If you happen to go to there, they have a pina colada drink served in a cored-out pineapple that is AWESOME. I typically don't like pina coladas, but theirs is killer. You eat the pineapple when you finish the drink.

Subbed, as I'll be doing the same in Jan
