His only loss came at the hands of a prime Jeremy Horn back in late 2007 and he has finished 5 of his 7 wins since then, including his first two performances inside the UFC. He now faces the toughest test of his career in Korean Top Team member Dong-Yi Yang (10-1-0, 1-1 UFC), also known as “The Ox” or “Hammer”. Yang's sole loss was a split decision that came at the hands of Chris Camozzi (15-4-0, 2-1 UFC) in his Octagon debut at UFC 121. Nine of his ten wins have come via vicious TKO; the one other by 1st round submission.
Dong made his MMA debut in his homeland of South Korea in 2007, fighting three times throughout the night, winning all three; one by submission, the others by TKO. He went on to fight 3 more times that year putting him at 6-0 in less than three months time. The Ultimate Fighter winner is quite accurate in his assessment of his adversary. “He’s a big, strong guy with heavy hands, he likes to finish fights and he is very dangerous if he gets on top of you. He pushes the pace of the fight and makes it exciting. I’m sure he will come out with bad intentions, looking to put me down and finish the fight but I feel ready for anything he has to throw at me,” McGee said of his opponent.

“My head BJJ coach there is Jason Mertlich and he is great. We have developed a system based mostly on my competition over the years. I’ve competed over 100 times in different things; grappling tournaments, wrestling, etc. It utilizes really rugged Jiu-Jitsu. I’ve never been a great submission guy but I am great at positioning and most of the things I use are to wear guys down and get them into a position where I can submit them or do damage to end the fight,” he added. “I have also been training at Cesar Gracie’s place with Jake Shields. Jake is one of my favorite training partners. My conditioning is also very good, which is one thing I make sure I’m always on top of. Fatigue makes sissies out of world champions so I do everything I have to do to keep my cardio in tip-top shape."
The Utah native goes on to discuss how he thinks the fight will play out. “You never know how a fight will unfold…a guy could be an Olympic wrestler and still come out and try to bang the whole time or a guy with 12 pro boxing fights can come out and try to take a guy down. You never know what to expect in an MMA fight until you step in there and engage your opponent. My game plan is to just go out and win the fight. For example, I’m not a BJJ guy at all really but I won my last two fights by submission. I just work on my BJJ constantly. I believe in progress over perfection."
