Couture or Bettis

Both are great athletes. It is just sad that one of the greatest fighters (my opinion) retires and you dont catch that on ESPN.... Bettis was good and accomplished a lot, not to take away from his moment, but it would be nice to see Randy get a little recognition....

How can you compare MMA to the NFL? Of course Bettis has not done anything for MMA nor has Randy done anything for the NFL. You are comparing apples and oranges. MMA is not a big of sport as the NFL in this country and 2/3's of sports fans (or more) have no clue who Randy Couture is.

I dont even know who Bettis is so Randy's was sadder to me

5th on the all time rushing list is considered nothing?

ok...

Randy is a legend of this sport....Bettis is a HOF in football

both have alot to be proud of

Memnock's cheif export is "correct"

now thats just dumb to say

Randy fought in 12 title fights outta 22

noone else can say that

he won belts in 2 different divisions...

i would say thats accomplishing a nice bit in this sport

but my point is...how can you compare these 2? the sports are completely different

both are highly accomplished in their respective sport. what have they done for their fellow man?

Maurice Smith beat Mark Coleman.

Pedro Rizzo owns a victory over Andrei Arlovski.

Kevin Randleman was a UFC champ and beat Cro Cop.

Randleman has been inconsistant in his career, but if Tito, Chuck, Rizzo, Vitor and Maurice Smith aren't great fighters I'm going to have to go back to 5th grade and re-do that whole adjective thing.

headbutted has caught the correct!!! both are great for their respective sports...

randy was a great champ

bettis was a great running back

Mag you are an idiot. Couture never had a prime . he started fighting at 33 when most athletes are at the end of the line. He only fought the best. He beat the best when they were in thier prime.(Rizzo 2x, Belfort 2X,Randleman,Horn,Tito Ortiz,Mo smith,Chuck Liddell.

Sorry, its much more difficult to be #5 on the NFL's all time runnning list.

Couture .

Anyday.

Both were outstanding at their respective sports. Both were gentleman outside the cage or field. Randy fights 3 times a year, while Bettis competes upwards of 20 times counting preseason (which is barely plays).

Training is grueling for both. I have enjoyed to watching each. Being that I am from Pittsburgh it would be easy for me to say Jerome had the better career, but I won't. Instead I will just appreciate each man for their individual accomplishments. Both will leave a big void in their sport.
