Criticize Buddhism in this thread

The OG spends a lot of time criticizing Christianity and Islam, but not so much time criticizing my religion. Where are my angry athiests? Own me with your unstoppable logic.  I want to hear the complaints about Buddhism.

The Eightfold path makes too much sense! Uhhh... that's all I got.

Also Buddha is a bit chubby.

it glorifies fat asians!

I'd say burn in hell but you'll probably end up burning in the middle of the street. Phone Post

Fair enough.  My buddhism doesn't encourage this.  In fact, my buddhism doesn't even have a clergy.  I would have a hard time following the kinds of buddhism that say that only priests can be enlightened, but that kind of buddhism doesn't exist much in the west outside of a few ethnic communities from southeast asia.

Buddhism is more of a practice than a belief. It works versus just having faith. And after all there is no god in Buddhism.

The fact u made this thread makes me question if u r really a Buddhist. Perhaps a psychedelic Buddha? Phone Post

Just a gripe.

It was easy for Siddhartha to teach the "Middle Way" coming from a wealthy family and being royalty. He wasn't born poor or wanting, so it's much easier to say to leave all of that shit behind, and then preach about it.

If he was born poor, and then had to work hard to gain his riches, I really doubt that he'd let all of that go. He may have felt that wealth was not life's ultimate goal, but he didn't have to work for it so it's likely he didn't appreciate it.

Limousine liberal, champagne socialist.

BTW I do not practice Buddhism anymore but the more solitude I had the easier it was.. including family Phone Post

I don't got much for you. I think Siddartha was an amazing genius with profound insight into the nature of humanity and practices which improve our lot, both as individuals and as a community. I think his teachings are a remarkable collection of work, and I think that following his precepts as a guide for navigating your mind is an excellent idea, regardless of one's belief of the religious nature of the Buddha.

Sorry, I will try to think of reasons your religion sucks.

true, but none of the hipsters go to more than a few meetings.  They show up enough to learn to talk the talk and then stop practicing.

I'd say it's harder for a rich person to leave behind all of their belongings than it is for a poor person. Phone Post
