After much speculation, The UFC has made it official. Dominick Cruz will be defending his Bantamweight title against Cody-Nolove Garbandt (ranked number 6 in the UFC BW rankings) on Dec 30th

Cruz said it after his last fight, only guy who's moved up the rankings by beating those below him. Seems like a strange decision, he doesn't have a large following that would help sell the fight. Would much rather have seen TJ get a rematch

Cool. I'll be very interested how that plays out. Cruz is my favorite current UFC fighter.
Garbrandt is a beast but I think it's a bad match up for him. He's used to having a big speed advantage but not so much vs Cruz. He can punch like hell,he really sits down on them and I think Cruz will be able to take him down.
Cruz has never been KO'd either. The few times he's been caught by big punches he took them well. He's got an iron chin.

Cruz should be too much, but it's intriguing just for the fact that Garbrandt has so much concussive power.

That's not the type of fight that gets you another title shot. Cody is as exciting as it gets and Mizugaki are Almedia are good wins. I hope Cody can catch Cruz but see Cruz being to elusive and winning on points.I really liked the first fight.

Cody has looked really impressive over guys outside the top ten and tj just beat a top 5 guy pretty easily.
Theyre both good fights but i wanted to see cody fight a top guy first. I feel like we are getting too far from the sport aspect of mma.

Cody has a huge NE Ohio and Pittsburgh following. Every girl in this area asks if you know that "Cody" guy when UFC is brought up. Then you usually learn he smashed them.

I was pulling for TJ to get it, because I think he has earned it and is markedly more deserving than Cody, but this will still be a fun scrap. Prediction: Cody will drop Dom once early, then get a 4 1/2 round clinic in elite mma.
