Pettis' kick was fucking amazing, and that was an incredible fight. That said, I personally thought Cruz' complete domination of Jorgenson was the highlight-- he looked better than ever, and this sets up the Faber fight perfectly.
Not trying to take away from Bendo/Pettis at all, just feel like Cruz is getting overlooked a little?
funny...watching cruz I gained an appreciation for folks who didn't enjoy the GSP vs Koschek fight.
Dude was awesome but the fight was mediocre.
That being said...Cruz did look amazing.
i appreciated how technical Cruz was. his head movement and footwork was amazing, but bendo/pettis was the best, with or without the kick
Cruz was obviously very effective with his movement, but I dont know how technical it was. He was leaving himself wide open, and all of the punches he is throwing he lunges into with his chin straight in the air. I dont know how he got away with all of the lunging body shots from way on the outside. He hops around a lot, which some people consider "footwork", but when you are way out of striking range when you are doing all of this bouncing around it doesnt really accomplish a lot. Whatever it is he is doing in there keeps fooling his opponents though, so it is hard to criticize.
I dont really like the comparison to the GSP v. Koscheck fight however. That looked much more like Edgar vs Penn. Not much damage scored at all. It was essentially point fighting, but I still found it entertaining.
Anomonis - It was entertaining sure, but not nearly as exciting as the main event. I think you're just being contrary. It was a huge mismatch.
No, I'm not being contrary (that's annoying). Just my personal opinion...
Having two awesome fights to argue about is a pretty good problem to have! Hopefully UFC fans will enjoy these guys and the action, skill and excitement they bring
The most impressive aspect of his game last night were his takedowns. I was really impressed with how quick they were. I think his standup is way overrated. That bouncing, lunging style is so effective because he's 3-5" taller than everyone one of his opponents. He can easily get in and out on them. He'll do the exact same thing to Urijiah.
There's only one guy that can match his size and striking, and that guy will beat him when given the chance. Your next UFC bantamweight champion is...Miguel Torres.

I agree with this, it was technical, like Naseem Hamed is technical. His takedowns were awesome, but his "footwork" is terrible imo.
It looks awesome against stationary targets and guys who move backward in a straight line. In the 2nd round when Jorgenson started moving more laterally, Cruz would go flailing by him out of control and run into the cage.
However, like Hamed, it works well for him, and I was impressed by his takedowns and cardio. He and Faber will make an interesting fight.
