today, the CSAC, per the website agenda, will meet in a closed session to determine whether or not the executive director will be retained. if the majority votes NAY, they will also appoint an interim director.
this is in response to the financial issues within the commission, as far as i can tell. the responsibilities of the ED are under appreciated. it is a thankless job, and i would guess that the earning potential is less than impressive.
CA hosts more pro fights than any other state, by far. i dont see how, if it comes to that, replacing the ED will lead to anything positive.
Don`t bring back Armando "UFC" Garcia.

The CSAC is broke from what I've read and none of the commissioners had any idea until they got a letter stating this.
Sounds to me like Dodd is a goner.
Sure it's not open to the public?
removing him is a step in the right direction.

description under "meeting materials"
closed session unless dodd requests some aspect of it public
it really looks like the CSAC will cease to exist in the near future, which is very difficult to imagine.
crowbar - Don`t bring back Armando "UFC" Garcia.

Don't say his name out loud
Anyone know the result of the meeting?
TTT for results
Dodd is still EO, CSAC censured him for failing to inform them of the fact that they are broke. Still retains right to fire him at later date. Apparently some big time boxing companies like Golden Boy and Goossen Tutor stepped up to the plate for Dodd which helped him keep his job.
All of this is per Josh Gross, would be nice if some more MMA Media reported this kind of real news rather than stories about the latest Sonnen trolljob or Dana saying Fedor blows for the 20000th time.

I know this may shock you and others, but reporting on actual things of relevance rather than just fishing for what nonsense draws the most pageviews is a sign of quality journalism.
Another story along with UFC.com hacker arrested that I meant to do at 6:30 am when I woke up but forgot to (it was 6:30 am <;-)
Adding now.
UGCTT_Suess - and broke journalists.
My man it's not a black and white world, plenty of room to report on Chael trolljobs and things like this. The CSAC being out of money and somewhat in disarray is a pretty big deal. Not every article has to be MMATMZ.
Besides, most/all MMA journalists are broke regardless of content.

An interesting debate to be had here. If you are asking my opinion personally as a reader...yes I want aspiring bright eyed bushy tailed journalists doing a little bit of work to make a name for themselves rather than taking low hanging fruit like Dana White quotes and Chael trolljobs that 100000 garbage sites run. Those that do have a permanent reader in me. I only speak for myself though.

Fortunately for intelligent folk like you and I, not every journalist panders to the lowest common denominator in desperate pageview grabs.
I heard Oregon made a ED change as well. Or at least was in the process of doing it.
I agree, running an atheltic commission is a thankless job. I know George from when he worked at the Washington State Athletic licensing unit. Not a bad guy, but it's hard for good guys to do much when there are so many different angles/perspectives to deal with.
You have promoters who don't want to give up any money, you have commissioners that want to make more money for the state, you have fighters that just want to fight...it effing sucks.
