I may pick up a new daily driver in the near future. Options open, looking to spend MAYBE 25k (cash, no financing).
Considered so far: '93-'98 Supra TT's; '03-04 Terminators; maybe a VW Phaeton or an A8. Thought about the 6.0 GTO's, but something keeps me from liking them enough. Recently, I've seen some '05 & '06 CTS-V's with low mileage (some with extended warranties!) fall within my price range.
I've seen that some of them have had differential problems. Anything else to be aware of?
The Supras all have too many miles on them already (or are out of my price range). The Cobras are cool, but I'd like aa bit more passenger room - still considering them, though. Phaeton/A8 would HAVE to have low miles and extended warranty, just too many expensive potential repairs.
NICE choices..personally i'd love to get my hands on a low mileage w12 phaeton.

Why not look at CTS-V competitors for more options?
You have the E46 M3s starting to come to that price range, and there are S4s coming down there as well. Warranties still available depending on years.
Maintenance on all those cars would be pretty bad though, especially the Phaeton. These cars are starting to come to the end of the road on their warranties and electrical things are going to start going bad. Window regulators, throttle bodies, nav systems, etc.
Not interested in the EVOs or STIs?
I have a couple friend that have them and love them.
Out of all cars listed on this thread, it will be the most reliable by far.

Set aside a budget for brake pads and tires.
MB's just not interested. If I were to own an MB, it would be one of the old 6.3's or a late 70's 6.9. Don't care for anything they've made in the last decade or so. Everyone I've known that has had a newer MB, has had problems.
3-series BMW are too small, same with the EVO & STI (and get stolen too frequently). 350Z is too slow AND small :-) G's too slow as well.
Granted, Supras and Cobras are small, but they compensate with extraordinary performance and ability maintain value.
I'm pretty much stuck between Supra, Cobra, and CTS-V, at this point. With two teenagers in the house, the Caddy is probably the most rational choice :-/
Pony, are the Brembo pads extra-expensive? I'll probably only put ~15k/yr on it.

Since you don't mind big or american I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the 300c SRT8. 6.1 liter, and a few ticks faster than the CTS-V. black on black with a mesh grill, seriously......
I don't know the car itself but it is a heavy and very fast car with large brakes..........but it still has to conform to the laws of physics which means you get a car that brakes well for it's weight but you end up paying in wear.
The problem is that you really can push these cars and wear out "consumables" faster than you should if you drive faster than you should.
Same applies to hemi chargers and other recent big engine cars.
I still like them, though.
LS-x motors respond wonderfully to mods. I've never really trusted Chrysler products, and don't seem to respond as well to mods as the LS's.

Yeah, but if you're looking at these cars you are looking at excess anyway right? Otherwise you'd get an elise. :D
I drove the sissy version of the 300 and it was gutless but still very comfortable. I imagine with a big motor and big brakes it would make an awesome car to drive slow or fast.

My wife has an '06 CTS-V and it's alot stronger than what I thought (LS2 w/6 speed man) I don't get to drive it very often (she knows me) but I've easily cut two mustangs and a modified ram air TA......But I've blown BMWs off the road. My only close race was a M3.....
The cadillac will not only GO, but it HANDLES and STOPS like a dream. I personally think that picking up a used one with low milage for around 25K is one of the best deals of the century.....
Oh, and when I raced the M3, I forgot to turn my AC off.
BTW, looking right now at trading in the '06 for a
brand new '09 (appx 175 more hp with AT)....stay tuned
