MMA isn't Olympic wrestling or Judo, it's a sport that combines wrestling with striking, sort of like San Shou/San Da, which Cung Le has over 50 matches in and has won all but 2 of them.....
Cung did GREAT tonite... and so did Frank. Great fight and both guys deserve to enjoy the fruits of a great effort. For anyone to have the stance, this guy was soooo much better than the other is obsurd. HMB has been here for more than 4 years and Im sure he is just completely pumpped that his guy won... Who wouldnt, especially if it was against a legend like F Shamrock... Awesome fight, I hope to see both guys back against quality opponents. Congrats HMB
I think Frank is awesome but I hate how everyone hates on CUNG so I have to pump him up. Also, I believe that he will be nearly impossible to take down at the rate he is going and the skill he has.
I admit I was wrong about Cung Le. I really thought their was maybe some "pay bonuses" to the fighters not to take it to the ground. I figured there's no way he could be doing all that bruce lee shit otherwise. Apparently he can do all the flashy stuff while still defending the takedowns. He's a refreshing change from the predictable jab, swing, clinch, stalemate against the fence, lowkick, takedown, get stood back up, etc. Most MMA fights look like scripts now.
Id never hate on Cung or Frank, BUT... I think what made this fight so great was the way they matched-up... Cung is awesome, but to state he "cant be taken down" is over the top. I can name 10 guys that could take him down... but those fights would be SHIT. They would suck. The beauty of this match-making was that both guys stood together, and it was such juxtoposing styles philosophically... Ying vs. Yang, Soft Vs. Hard, Quiet Vs Loud... agian this is all IMO. Congrats to both guys, and through victories may they meet again...
