Let's face it - some guys have the ability to cut more water weight than others.
This means that come fight-time they are significantly larger and stronger than their opponent.
I mean - if that wasn't the case - fighters wouldn't cut weight to get an advantage.
The problem is human beings are not made perfectly equal. So this means one fighter will enjoy the advantage of possibly carrying 10 lbs more muscle than his opponent.
This is clearly unfair. So why do we tolerate that and not PED?
As far as I'm concerned cutting weight is cheating. And I could care less if all fighters do it (actually Japanese fighters rarely do it - which is why they always look like munchkins compared to Americans 'of the same weight class').
If GSP steps into the octagon weighing 190 lbs and fought weighing 190 lbs, it seems odd for him to claim to be the best 170 lbs in the world.
Same with J.Jones. I don't know how much he weighed during the fight - but the guys looks like a heavyweight. So he dominated guys one weight class lower. Who cares. These men are literally a weight class lower.
As unpopular as this might seem with some - they really need to find a way to address this - or we will continue to see lop sided fights.
Jones cut from about 217 for this fight.
ds1970 - Jones cut from about 217 for this fight.
Serious?
Shit - He looked much bigger.
I'm guessing Shogun cut from around the same... Crazy how different their body types are.

His fight with Bader was just a few weeks prior, so he didn't have time to get out of shape, I guess.
Shogun walks around at between 220-230.
Jones is just a tall guy.
jones could use some squats IMO
Jones are skinnier legs and Shogun has about 10 lbs more fat.
