Cyril Gane, not enough hype

6’5, 250lb, 82 inch reach. Undefeated professional Muay Thai record (7-0). Undefeated mma record (6-0). Took 2 of his 3 ufc wins by submission including dropping back into a heel hook. This man might have something for Francis and Stipe sooner than later!

Agree. He has beat Mayes and Boser too who were two of the biggest HW prospects heading into their UFC debuts.

He is fighting on the Zombie card vs Abdurakhimov so hopefully he gets some hype if he wins and looks good.

Everyone is just waiting for the Stipe vs Ngannou vs Jones fights at HW so nobody is paying attention to him yet.

Abdurakhimov is his toughest fight yet but he is 39, very winnable fight for Gane.

Cool but being undefeated in must Thai in the hvwt division is nothing special lol

So far he’s beaten up a few fat guys in ufc… Need to see him tested but I hope he is a real killer as hvwt needs it!

Doesn’t Gane train with Ngannou though?

Yup, he's going to be at the top of the heap soon, I would imagine .

I see Gane is a 5-1 fav heading into the Adurakhimov fight. That says a lot about him.

In the past the biggest odds against Abdurakhimov was -275 and that was vs Blaydes.

Gane is only ranked 14th right now because he is only 3-0 in UFC and has not beat names but it looks like he is the next top 5 HW.

Its not a deep division but the 2021/2022 title picture should be interesting.

I expect it will be Stipe, Ngannou, Jones, Gane and Blaydes in the top five and holding the belt. Perhaps Overeem or Volkov get back into the top five but thats about it.

I keep mentioning him on this forum yet nobody is interested. He beat Boser easily who is another top heavyweight prospect. His Muay Thai game is surgical. One of the best leg kicks I have seen in the heavyweight league. He also fights smart and has good fight IQ. This man should be getting more fights and getting more hype. He was the main Nganou sparring partner over in France when they trained in the past. Great HW prospect and would love for him to be on the main cards!

He really fights smooth. Doesn’t force anything, throws tight strikes and only wrestles and grapples once his opponents over commit to something. When’s the last time a heavyweight gave up top position to finish a leg lock?

Mir?

That shocked the hell out of me... I was like wow, a HW went for a heel hook, oh wait, he is French, a French HW just hit a heel hook in the UFC. French grapplers have not exactly set the MMA world on fire.

Hi striking is really top level. Devastating leg kicks. He is humble and soft spoken, always respectful to his opponents. I'm a fan and hope he does well. Fighters like him are the future of this division.

So Overeem 2.0 basically?

So Overeem 2.0 basically?

I wouldn't say so yet. He needs more fights to test his ground game. Overeem has a superior ground game, very experienced.

Look at the way he passes guard away from the potential front headlock before it’s even there, simultaneously when he takes people down. This dude is just well trained in every facet of situational mma. I remember thinking the same thing about a young Rory McDonald elbowing the shit out of people instinctively on clinch breaks. He’s got that fluidity you see in special talent.

He’s a beast, just needs that breakout win to get him over.

Ufc should sign Tyrell Fortune. His contract with bellator is over and I do think he is a better fighter than what’s he’s shown so far. Besides, he fits right in with fighters like Hardy and Volkov

What do you mean fits in with Hardy and Volkov?

Of course Fortune would be a great addition to the UFC HW division. Bellator has never had much of a division. Its always been a shame Kharitonov, Minakov, Fortune etc… can’t be seen competing and climbing the ranks in the UFC HW division, the only deep HW division since PRIDE died.
