Askren does not have a guard to speak of but Maia's technique and pressure and weight distribution was dope to watch. I know there are all kinds of philosophies regarding passing, but what I liked was his "pressure passing" and that he is always moving forward and getting his weight forward on over Askren's head.
I think some of you know I have trained with Rickson a fair ammount, and that is something he always stressed. Getting the weight over their head and then pass the legs.
It was poetry in motion. Such a great fight. Sick sweeps and reversals by both. I actually liked the sloppy stand up too.

Does anyone have videos of these kinds of passes? I'm having trouble imagining this.
Loved how he passed, then transitioned right to mount. Awesome back sequence, great the way he pulled Ben's head back exposing the neck and then slid the forearm under the neck and finished basically with a one armed choke. Ben was almost out and barely had the strength to tap.

Check out all four parts of this series. It's awesome. He's also spent a lot of time breaking down Askrens game, and Askren has even mentioned in interviews how accurate his videos are.
Demian is going to be in the Chicago suburbs in about 2 weeks doing an open seminar at one of his affiliates. I've been to 2 of them. He always goes over his passes and half guard philosophies. I always pick up some new stuff.
