"A tae kwon do black belt and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, Hardy has secured more than half (15) of his 23 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. "

So Hardy is brown and Rashad is a black belt. What belts would these guys have if they weren't Dan Hardy or Rashad Evans? I think people are just giving out belts now to famous people, so they can say something like "Hardy has a bb under Eddie Bravo". Giving them a belt is like placing an advertisement. How long would it take normal guys to get that rank?

For as long as MMA has existed, this has been going on. Carlson promoted Vitor to BB just in time for his UFC debut, so it could advertise his school. Gary Goodridge was given a blackbelt and a gi in Kuk Sool Won or some shit with ZERO MA experience in order to advertise someone's school.
You have to let it go, man. Pro fighters are pro fighters, and belts don't mean shit in MMA. No point in getting worked up about it.

ok, as long as you agree. lol. I think there are gonna be some people who don't agree with our point of view though.

I would like to read Eddie Bravo's opinion on the matter.
It's worth noting that these guys are around top quality coaches and training partners not to mention training 5/6 days a week full time
Da Specimen - It's worth noting that these guys are around top quality coaches and training partners not to mention training 5/6 days a week full time
So is somebody like Nate Diaz. And he has actually competed in BJJ.
when did dan get his brown belt? i know eddie gave him his purple belt not too long ago.

Kinda how I see it. There are people out there that have probably trained much
Less and are black/brown belts.
brown as in shite
=)
Well, when he was a purple GSP couldn't tap him out,
and had two solid submissions on him.
So yeah, maybe he is a brown belt?
He also doesn't have a day job,
so of course guys who train full time advance faster.
Been a pro fighter since 2004, so he has probably been working on some type of grappling for at least 6 years.

You mean the GSP who had to have his instructor show him how to work and armbar after the fight? GSP is probably another guy who hasn't earned his.

The GSP who has his teacher show him what he did wrong.
Yes, even blackbelts make mistakes.
GSP has been training a decade,
and working with high level blackbelts for 5 years.
On a full time schedule, not twice a week after work.
I promise GSP is a black belt.

Your promises don't mean much. You credited Hardy with having good BJJ because he shook off GSP's subs. But then you admit it was a technical error of GSP. Which is it? GSP himself says it was his own error.

Nate Diaz has been doing the same, has a lower rank than Rashad and GSP, and the same rank as Hardy. Something isn't right here.

AND Nate has subbed a seasoned black belt (Pellegrino) off his back.
Cesar Gracie only gave three of his students black belts (to my knowledge):
Terrell
Nick Diaz
Jake Shields

Your logic is flawed.
Not on belts are equal.
Just because Nate Diaz may be a BETTER brown belt,
doesn't mean Dan isn't one at all.
Nate didn't even PLACE at worlds.
Does that mean he doesn't deserve his brown belt?
See where I am going with this?
Just because you don't see Dan's BJJ as much as doesn't mean it doesn't exist, he is a striker.
Also, its impossible to tell if it was Dan or GSP who was responsible for those subs not working, probably a little bit of both.
How do you ignorant fools know Rashad, Dan and hell even GSP got their belts gifted to them? I'm sure Dan and Rashad are SOLID bjj players. And GSP? Passing Penn's guard multiple times=black belt.

Who gave Hardy his brown? Serra? I remember hardy training with Serra on the countdown show for the GSP fight. Serra is known to be very picky when it comes to giving belts
