Wow, all I can say is I have a new found respect for Dan Hardy. The dude is a really, really deep person. I do not know anyone who in that position would be ok to just let it all go and retire if need be. Sounds like he already has a plan after fighting and if he cant fight in the UFC he done and OK with it.
I wouldnt mind seeing dan in a thai boxing match though, that would be awesome to see!
behind the dyed mohawk, tattoos, and UFC-inspired "bad guy" character he was playing against GSP, Hardy actually has a very long history in "traditional" martial arts. I was never fond of him until after the humbling by GSP and learning of his true martial arts background. Great dude.
ArthurKnoqOut - I use to hate Dan Hardy but after meeting him twice and watching his recent interviews, I think he became my fave fighter/person in MMA.
i think a majority of mma fans thought like that as well. good to see all of our minds being changed.
I wish I got to talk to more fighters like Dan on a regular basis.
Must say again, however, that it wasn't CSAC that turned him down. He submitted his paperwork to UFC docs, who apparently were concerned and pulled him from card. CSAC never got his EKG.
Left on cutting room floor of recent interview, Dan said he might be getting deeper into the music biz. I asked him what kind of cover band he would do if he put one together now -- back in the day, he was the Zach de la Rocha of a Rage cover band -- and he said Pink Floyd or Tool.
I told him if it was the latter, he needs a damn good drummer to pull it off. Wish him the best in any event.
I still find it amazing that people can't tell when guys are selling a fight.
Dan is very well spoken, intelligent and knows how to market himself. I don't see how you could hate him. He's always been more cheeky than disrespectful.
He wasn't going to stand in front of a camera and say "I'm getting out-fought tonight" or "I don't deserve to be here".
I hope he succeeds in whatever comes next. Plus I think he's as hot as hell!
3rdLion - I hope Rogan gets him on the podcast, he'd be a great guest.
War Outlaw!
That was the first thing I thought after hearing Dan on the Mac Danzig podcast...too many "umms" and dead air from Danzig as much as I enjoyed it after roughing it out, it was tough lol

IDK about the very last sentence but he pretty much himself stated that he was an antagonist and whatnot and had a lot of less-than-sportsmanship-like instances in and out of the cage...So, although he was always involved in martial arts and all that(as he said in the GSP/Hardy countdown/24/7 thing) he still acted and came off as a dick :)
