andaladamooment - That's right, because if martial arts teach you anything, it's that size trumps skill and style.
When skill is equal. Then yes, size trumps all.

Like a previous poster touched on, Fedor was one of the smaller heavies and he used that size difference to his advantage.
What is different about GSP and Fedor that Georges couldnt make the size disparity work in his advantage as well?
I can see why Dana wants this. It's becoming a bit hard to sell the top contenders of either division when most of them have losses to the champions.
I don't think that GSP should move up though. His body seems perfectly suited for 170. Regarding Anderson, it's pretty much up to him whether he fights at 185 or 205. But I really dislike when people make it sound like Anderson is this monster that has to cut 50 pounds to make 185. When he fights at 205 he almost doesn't cut any weight.
Anderson cuts between 15 and 20 pounds to fight at 205. He walks around over 220.
Jake Shields has shown that it's possible to put on weight in a relatively short period of time and be competitive. GSP can do it too.
EvilMaster - Anderson cuts between 15 and 20 pounds to fight at 205. He walks around over 220.
Monsters Ball -Like I said, if you believe that bullshit, more power to you.jjj2121 -EvilMaster - Anderson cuts between 15 and 20 pounds to fight at 205. He walks around over 220.
If you believe that bullshit...more power to you.
Wasn't too long ago he came into a title fight weighing 182.
He has said it himself. In the Irvin vs Silva post fight conference Anderson said he walks around at 220.
So if you don't want to believe him that's up to you but the guy is 6'2". 220 is not high for a guy that size.
Dana is in the fight BUSINESS and what makes more sense for his bBUSINESS but to put this fight together. You can't say GSP is the best and then say Anderson is the best and not have them fight. This fight is going to be at a catch weight so no advantage for anyone and to say because someone is bigger they will win is crazy because this is MMA and there are to many ways to win to count someone out because of size...ROYCE GRACIE NUFF SAID.
EvilMaster - This is wrong imo. Georges and Anderson are in two completely different weight classes. This is Dana throwing away one of his top pound for pound champions for a little profit. :(
EvilMaster - It's still Dana trying to force this fight. I really hate this shit. :(
Yes, Anderson will win. But not because he is a better technical fighter. He will win because he is twice the size of Georges. It's not a fair fight at all. A big good fighter beats a smaller good fighter every time.
I love the fact taht all the GSP groupies are shaking in there boots because GSP will get exposed bad By Anderson.
Damn this card is scik with great fights but im excited to see Thugjitsu vs The Guilotine.
GageIsLegend - Am I the only one who wants to see gsp stay at ww? <img src="/images/phone/post_tag.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
Buck 65 -Anderson will not win, and it's ridiculous to me that a combat sports fan is so vehemently opposed to watching 2 of the best in the world P4P fight simply because they are a weight class apart. Enough of GSP winning 50-45's over Dan Hardy and Josh Koscheck.EvilMaster - It's still Dana trying to force this fight. I really hate this shit. :(

Dana trying to force it? He's been against it forever, and it's been the fight everyone has wanted to see in the past 4 years. He's only now accepting it as a possibility.
Size won't make a difference. GSP could take Anderson down all day with ease. The guys he's already been taking down with ease are much harder fighters to take down because of their wrestling pedigree, and the fact that they are shorter makes it even more difficult. Anderson has been taken down multiple times before, it shouldn't be that hard for the best takedown artist to take him down.
Anderson does have a good triangle, but when has GSP ever been remotely close to being caught in one? No one can match his ground skill IMO.
GSP would win a decision or possibly submit Anderson.
Monsters Ball -You think Anderson legitimately starts his weight cut from 220? No way...look at the extra fat he's packing at the 101 weighins...he's above his ideal weight at 205.jjj2121 -Monsters Ball -Like I said, if you believe that bullshit, more power to you.jjj2121 -EvilMaster - Anderson cuts between 15 and 20 pounds to fight at 205. He doesn't cut from 220. I promise you that. He may balloon up to 220 when he's out of shape, but that's not his natural weight.
He showed up to fight Forrest at a pretty chunky looking 205.
It only makes sense to believe Anderson himself over some guy who doesn't know him speculating on the internet.
PS: Stay warm it's getting down in the mid-30s in Orlando tonight.
Monsters Ball - Anderson 6'2"
GSP 5'10"

He said he loves his McDonalds when he's noot trianing that's how he got to 220?
But when training he's 20 something.
People need to realize there are 3 fighter 'weights':
- Out of shape weight (See Rampage at 250!!!)
- Training weight
- Cutting weight (week of the fight for weigh ins)
Patrick Cote was 220 after his knee surgery....
This is a man carrying plenty of extra weight. He is by no means cut at 205.
