What a dick... totally unnecessary commentary and shows how he really feels about the longtime guys who have worked for and contributed to the UFC all these years.
Given how they have treated the revenue generators (the fighters) over all these years - I guess we shouldn't be surprised that they would treat their other employees even worse.
In the end - the depth of his character (or lack thereof) shines through.
Dana is defending himself. Stitch set up this scenario that he and Dana were friends and Dana did his friend dirty. Stitch made it public so Dana responded publicly. I don't have a big problem with this. I would have preferred that both guys kept this private to begin with instead of airing it in public.
MrBobGray - I like Stitch. Wish that never happened. But If they were never friends, why should he be so emotionally attached. It is what it is...business.
Because, even if you're not friends, you're supposed to conduct yourself in a certain way in business. And what Dana did was completely out of line - firing Stitch because Stitch voiced his issues with the Reebok deal. Dana didn't give any of these guys an opportunity to voice their perspective before the deal, now the deal is done, and these guys aren't even allowed to talk to other people about the deal? They'll get fired if they bring it up?
The thing is, Stitch is correct that Zuffa should have figured out a way to make it work for the cut men to get some sponsorship dollars. He also most likely exaggerated his relationship with Dana and knew he was on his way out the door so he built himself up on the way out.
Dana doesn't have an excuse for the lack of sponsorship dollars for the cut men so he attacks the weakest part of Stich's argument. If Stitch would have just said that he was quitting in reaction to the loss of money for all of the cut men and Zuffa's indifference to it, there wouldn't be anywhere for Dana to maneuver. It's too bad, if Duran would have refrained from making himself seem more important and involved with the organization it wouldn't have allowed Zuffa to shape their response so dismissively.
Good to see even with not that many views yet that video has FAR more down votes than up votes. No idea why the UFC on FOX page would post that, I suspect it will be taken down after a while.
Dana says "we have 10 other cut men" but how many other cut men can you name? Stitch is by far one of the most tenured and recognizable guys during broadcasts....to undermine that is an obvious dana dick move. He also says "We go back to boxing, and I brought him in early on".....that may not indicate friendship, but that's a strong business relationship at the very least, and you still owe a guy a call if you're letting him go over that bs they fired him over.. Danas just acting like a spoiled bitch which is typical of him in a situation like this.
Lol Dana's only way to attempt to defend this bullshit is saying "he lied, we weren't friends". Piss off boiled egg head, address the real issue, aka shitty business practices and shafting your employees.

I also thought that alluded to a strong business relationship, which sort of makes that interview a bit off
Also not commenting on the bigger picture did not help his case.
Dana turning the focus to if He and Stitch were friends or not is pretty stupid. Who the hell cares if they were friends or not? This isn't High School.
The focus should be the UFC forgot about other employees when they made the Reebok deal. As such those employees took a hit in wages which affects their ability to put food on the table. Rather than try to make it right, the UFC chose to make an example out of anyone that spoke out in any way shape or form. It is the typical take it or leave it attitude. But don't worry, maybe they can get an extra job delivering snow to Dana's driveway. As long as the truck says Reebok on the side.
Because of the long silence from the UFC and Zuffa about Durans departure I was expecting a bombshell from Dana like we caught him doing drugs backstage or sniffing panties or something way out... I would have never in a million years expected this interview.
Dude is losing touch massively, time for the golf course before he causes anymore embarrassment.
