I'm sure he would have been suspended by the athletic commission for 6-12 months (at most). I doubt it would have been any worse than a steroid suspension.
Dana could have just gone along with the athletic commission's suspension, called Daley and idiot and let him fight again.

Daley did it to himself. Blaming Dana for the decisions of a fighter isn't the right play. Your hind sight is pretty poor. Cutting Daley was the right move at the time.

Can't be a brawler in the UFC without some TD defense. Imagine what Chuck's career would have been like without it. Now imagine Daley's career WITH it.
Practically speaking, it's extremely difficult to be a champion in the UFC without top-notch TD defense.
The only possible substitution for it is to have a legitimately dangerous guard like A. Silva. And even then, Chael came within a hair of beating him.

No, he didn't make a mistake. Dana runs a business and you have to nip something like that in the bud right away. What he did was absolutely unexcuseable. 100% unforgiveable and he had to be fired. You let that slide it will make a big statement to all fighters in the UFC.
