Daniel is a Gracie Barra Black Belt and an instructor at the main Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City. Some of Daniel's accomplishments include:

- 4x Silver Medalist at the BJJ World Championship and 1x third place
- 3rd place in 2005 ADCC World Championship
He is also an MMA veteran who's fought in Pride FC (Japan) as well as the IFL.
