Nerds are needed now more than tough men when it comes to war. Nerds can create bioweapons, freakin’ sharks with giant lasers, nukes, advanced weapons, drones, spy satellites, etc…

The problem with the rankings is that a guy in the top three can lose a couple fights in a row and still be in the top three. Or be inactive and still be a title contender.

Usman gets his head kicked into orbit and then loses the trilogy fight and he’s still ranked #2 probably behind Colby and Leon. And he’s one win away from getting another title fight if Colby wins.

I mean, most of these guys are maintaining or gaining their ranking by beating up Masvidal who was very briefly a top 5 guy but hasn’t been in a couple years.

This is something that really hurts how things are in the UFC for a lot of hardcore fans. UFC plays games with their rankings and their prizefighting politics and its the ugly side of MMA.

I was noticing this a lot while watching Khabib, Oliveira, Makhachev and Leo Santos in the LW division.

Khabib was slow tracked up the ranks and Conor held up the belt after he got a title shot he didn’t earn and then went to fight Floyd but got to keep the LW belt for marketing purposes. That fucked Khabib and Tony hard for a while there.

Oliveira and Makhachev deserved big fights way before they got them, meanwhile Chandler comes in and gets a title shot after going 1-0. Its just disgusting politics surrounding the title picture and who is allowed in it and when.

Leo Santos submitted Tony Martin and then KOed Kevin Lee but just could not get a big fight at LW while he was relatively close to his prime. They just let him age out of the division in pointless fights that lead him nowhere despite the fact he had won the TUF Brazil at WW as well.

Just to get Conor to a FW title fight they let him avoid fights with Edgar and Oliveira who would likely have beat him. They then let him jump over the entire LW division to get a crack at aging Eddie.

UFC don’t rig fights but they absolutely make or break things for so many fighters with the fights they offer or don’t offer them.

Gaethje started his UFC career 1-2 but was put right in there with Eddie and Dustin because UFC liked his style.

All Gaethje had to do was beat a Barboza who had just been brutalized by Khabib and Lee and then beat a Cowboy who was declining and had just been KOed by Tony a few months prior and he was right there in the title fight with Tony.

I’m just saying, Gaethje’s UFC career has been awesome but its the UFC offering him the big fights and the right fights that give him the spotlight other people like Oliveira and Makhachev had to win 10 fights in a row to get.

If the UFC don’t want you in the title picture that much then they offer you the kinda track and career they did Maia, if they want you in the spotlight then they offer you the fights and the track Gaethje had.

If the UFC likes you then they treat ya like Pena… Pena went 3-2 over six years to get offered a title shot vs Nunes.

If they are not too hot about ya then they tell ya you gotta take a fight on one weeks notice vs RDA after you just fought Green and went 4-0 in the past year or you won’t get a title shot like Dana did with Makhachev.

Look at Dariush and you can see a fighter UFC has no interest in as champ, he can get to the belt eventually like Khabib, Oliveira and Makhachev had to but he won’t get that Conor/Chandler/Gaethje/Masvidal/Faber kinda treatment when it comes to title shots.

O’Malley gets finished by Marlon Vera and is now somehow ranked above him by fighting one ranked fighter who he arguably lost to, meanwhile Vera has beaten 3 ranked fighters since that fight. Dana White privilege is absolutely real.

Lol.what a bitch

And this is why the UFC will never be a legitimate sporting organization. They make fights instead of having fights based upon rankings and merit.

Ok so if I challenge you to a fight and you say that’s ridiculous you are a duck

He fought Usman again after losing the first fight, and almost losing the second, but he’s scared of Colby? That’s the narrative now?

I take a couple of weeks off this place and y’all can’t keep it together.

Which makes ZERO sense to me. Not only is Benny on a massive win streak, but he is one of the most exciting fighters in the division.

Dariush if far, far less popular than Makhachev, Oliveira, Volk etc…

They all have big markets behind them now but Dariush has nobody behind but a few hardcores who are gonna watch anyway.

UFC figures here with Dariush if he can beat Oliveira who is still a big name and still only lost one fight in the past five years then maybe there will be some buzz with him to make the Makhachev fight bigger. And with Oliveira, since he got worked by Makhachev, he too needs a big win before a title fight. UFC is hoping Dariush vs Oliveira winner has a lot of hype so it sets up a title fight people want in Oct. Giving Dariush or Oliveira the title fight without the hype of beating the other would just not have nearly the same buzz.

Liking them versus them having meaning are two very different things.

They clearly have meaning.

It’s a marketing tool for the UFC and a system they use to punish or reward fighters.

Anyone remember when Dana had Leon removed from the rankings for a few weeks as a negotiating tactic?

It’s also justification for matchmaking when it’s convenient.
