I just rewatched the 1st round for the first time since Saturday night. George definitely edged out that round. He was in control for the majority of it and Johny only landed a few clinch strikes and a fruitless takedown. The shots that Johny landed weren't even that flush except for the elbows when GSP was aggressively trying to finish the takedown.
GSP got a takedown, submission attempt, and peppered Johny with jabs, a hook or two, and headkicks. Some of the headkicks even snuck through a little. Beat the champ to be the champ!

George bruises easily in every fight. He barely has a scratch on him per TMZs video of him today. Even the sparse few shots Johny landed in round 2 that Rogan was screaming about barely rocked George. His legs wobbled for about 2 seconds then he touched Johny up for the following 4 minutes with jabs, hooks, and a solid head kick. It's bizarre how people think this fight is so controversial now that I'm rewatching it.
Close? Yes. A robbery? No fucking way. Rewatch without a crowd of drunken people surrounding you who are screaming when Johny landed strikes. GSP was touching him up.
I'm not even a GSP nuthugger by the way. I'm trying to view this impartially.

That is easy for us to say, though. Imagine the time these guys put in. All of us are different, too. Some more loud, some passive. This re-match needs to happen, soon. I'm pumped for both fights.
