Deadlift form Q

When doing standard deadlifts from the floor:

Is there any benefit/increased injury risk involved if you were to squat down very low at the start of the motion rather than grabbing the bar while staying as high as possibke? Seems like it would just work legs more but also add more slack to your arms? Thanks.

Well I do my DL's exactly the same as my Cleans really.  You just use more legs the lower you have your bum.  Keep your arms tight and you are good to go.

JUST  MAKE sure your back is STRAIGHT before you start to lift with your legs.  You don't want to be DL with a rounded back.

Another benefit is that you *can* bounce the weight up if you squat low and come up.  You go a bit lower then your starting position then you bounce down a bit and use the stretch reflex action to help you up.  MAKE SURE YOUR BACK IS STRAIGHT.

A bunch of OL's do this also.  Seen a few DL's do it also.  Some people have learnt to use it and use it well.

Me personally I don't do the bounce technique.  I just take the tension and lift.
