Decent Wrestler Starting BJJ....

The title says my status.

My Q is,,,I am rolling with these white belts ranked higher than me and when I get in side control going for a arm triangle(happened last night) or other sub attempts I hear things like "what are you doing",,"practice technique not strength". Fucking Pussies!
They all just don't want to lose to a lower rank than them.
I bet if I had a blue belt I wouldn't hear any cunty comments. Seriously when I heard this, I was thinking not this bullshit again(same thing in Judo). I quit Judo because I realized I can keep up with brown belts with just my wrestling.

I agree technique is more important than strength, but when a sub attempt is coming there will be points where you have to force it on because the other guy is resisting. Next time that happens I am going to say, don't resist my sub just use technique to get out of it.

Any sound advice/etiquette is much appreciated.

Pull one aside and say hey, i try hard in rolling, i'm practing with the base i know. I don't know what your trying to get at calling me out in front of the group like that, but if you can't hold off my limited knowledge, your the one who needs to practice technique more, or work on your strength and conditioning. Leave it to the instructor to correct me thats why i pay him for classes.

Solid advice...Thanks

Start off your back. Play from your guard. Focus on passing.

Unless it comes from an instructor don't give it much thought. Wrestlers roll heavy naturally. Its the nature of the sport. A lot of guys who have never wrestled never rolled in competition so they are used to the "gentle" side of the art, not the oxygen disrupting, joint manipulating, bone crushing art we all love.

 this...

Also, there is a tendency for guys who never wrestled before to say things like that.  They are not used to people being explosive and tend to confuse that with spazzing which is 2 different things...

not saying you should disregard what your training partners say but you can't roll the way everyone wants you to. i think you could even hinder your own progress by being too tentative. just find ones that don't mind rolling hard, you could even mention it before starting to make sure. assuming that you're using moderate strength w/ proper technique not just spazzing.
