This is my guess...old pro wrestling matches that were real i know used to be called shoots so i think thats when they call someone a shoot fighter i think it means real fighter.
it combines submission grappling,muay thai striking and boxing.thats what the shootfighting school i went to in elizabeth,nj used to teach
