DelaRiva BB moving to Maine!

Waveman,

Where are you located?

Are you CJ?

Bruce,

I take the Oral Board this Friday.

Can you ask your fellow troopers if they enjoy thier job, morale, good organization?

Thanks!

Doc.

Dr. Schmeckle, is there an email address I can get in touch with you on? I can give you a couple of guys names/contact info to talk to who are current MSP. They also train, and are great guys who will give you the straight story on anything you want to know.

Do you currently train bjj somewhere? How long have you been training? Let me know the above or some other way to conact you. OK?

Bruce

I actually did train once in Maine, I had to drive like 4 hours to I think Boothbay harbor??? Some of Joe Moerieras purple belts had an academy there and treated me good, I got some good training in that night, but like I said in Maine, especially when it started snowing, that was an impossible drive to make.

Thanks for the info guys.

Bruce,

I am a Purple belt under Roberto Maia from Boston BJJ.
I test for the Oral Boards tommorrow with MSP.

Can you let me know what you Trooper friends say about the job, moral, family life etc?

my email is jhealeycgwm@yahoo.com

Thanks!

J.

waveman,

How is the real estate up there? I can handle anything and enjoy the outdoors, but the wifey needs some sort of civilizationfor the kids (schools, malls, Staples etc)

Any advise?

Thanks.

Dr. Schmeckle, I will email you tomorrow. I will give you a couple of guys to get in touch with. Overall, I think you will find the SP quite positive. Morale is good, equipment is good, lots of avenues to pursue (crash investigation, Tactical Team for the state, CID, dive team, etc.). There are a lot of young, enthusiastic guys on the job now and really do well in their areas. But I will put you in touch with guys who will give you the inside scoop. Hope it helps.

Bruce

Thanks gents. Lots of good info here. I took the boards yesterday. They beat me up pretty good, but if I get in, I will be looking for a ton of more info!

Thanks!

Dr. Schmeckle, I sent you an email...just checking to see if you got it?

Bruce

Bruce,

I have not recieved an email. jhealeycgwm@yahoo.com

Thanks!

Dr. Schmeckle, I just resent the email. Please let me know if you got it? Thanks.

Bruce

Bruce,

Got it. Thanks a TON!

You're welcom, good luck!

Waveman, where did you roll with Alexey?

Curious to see if he made it skiing yet?

Waveman, I know. I was a little surprised when he told me he was going to go skiing/enjoy the snow as soon as he gets to Maine. LOL.

O.K. now I just got on here to read this thread after my buddy and training partner "the waveman" came up yesterday morning for an impromptu training session with non other than Alexia Piccaro (this is what he said to be his last name, maybe I heard it wrong..Cruz?), and mentioned to me that he heard this guy was coming from the underground.

I am a brown belt who teaches at the fitness facility I direct in Rangeley Maine. A lake region and mountainous area, quite remote. So the luck of him being on vacation here and dropping buy because someone that I know overheard him in a store down town explain that he teaches jiu jitsu. This person then went on to say hey my friend Jon (that's me) teaches brazilian jiu jitsu here and my husband is going for his blue belt tomorrow!

Well Alexia made his way to my gym and the next day arrived to train for a few hours with me and everyone around that I could get in touch with (6 of us). What luck, living in east bum87%% Maine to have this surprise encounter!

He is a really genuine guy. Showed us some technique and then was quite excited to roll after being away from training during the trip out here. I don't think he ever expected to see a jiu jitsu school up here in the mountains of Western Maine. Wow, what a day!

He might be the only Brazilian I have ever met that loves cold weather ;)

Yeah he said he does a lot of adventure racing, and I think this area seems interesting and fun to him.

This is not tracking well....Was he by himself up in Rangely? Wher ein Brasil did he say he was from.. Could there be two Brasilian Black belts in Maine?
