When UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was announced as the winner at UFC 167 Saturday night, he expressed the desire to take time off of indefinite duration, citing unnamed personal issues. Shortly afterwards, TMZ, showing the journalistic integrity of a troll, named the problems. They don't bear repeating, as they are false, defamatory, and have been refuted by multiple sources.

TMZ's reliability in the MMA space was established when they announced the death of Kimo Leopoldo, following a troll post about his death on the UG, so it was perhaps no surprise.
In an interview with the LA Times, UFC president Dana White said he spoke with GSP earlier this week, and the champion “is denying those rumors that TMZ is reporting about those two things.”
“As far as a rematch, we’re on schedule and I’ll have a date within a couple weeks. I feel confident that Georges is fine with that and all is on track.”
White said the rematch could take place around the UFC’s annual Memorial Day weekend card, but would not commit to that date.
White also followed up on critical remarks he made Saturday about the controversial scoring in the bout Saturday.
“It’s not the commissioners who I have a problem with," said White. "I have great respect for the commissioners. I honestly believe change is going to happen, that the athletic commissioners in Nevada will fix the problem.”
White also said that GSP is “going off the grid” on vacation.
kyle223 - As usual, Dana wins. He'll get his millions with this rematch, and we'll get a less than 100% GSP.
might be right. if the guy doesn't want to fight then let him relinquish the title and not be forced to give a sub par perfromance. the fan in me would of course love to see a rematch and finality but the same fan also doesn't want to see a great in the sports legacy be tarnished and dragged through the mud.
Whatever his personal issues are, i hope gsp gets it all straightened out and either comes back or retires fully healthy. In interviews he has consistently conducted himself in a manner to make his employer look good and should have thier support. Hope he enjoys his time off and has no long term brain damage from playing the sport this long.
“As far as a rematch, we’re on schedule and I’ll have a date within a couple weeks. I feel confident that Georges is fine with that and all is on track.”
Translation:
"This rematch will be fucking huge, I'm ready to announce it for the Dallas or a MQC show. I haven't talked to Georges but he's fine, and everything is going according to my plans."
What did't TMZ report as true? They said that the problems GSP is talking about has to do with both his ailing father and a female whom he knocked up and I guess won't abort the baby?
It is true he has an ailing father right? If that point is true, then why not the second part?
Clearly we shall see what is factual if the female decides to come forward or shut up for a large paycheck, which case we will never know.
His sister and family have also refuted the part about the ailing father.
why is Dana forcing the rematch on GSP? Let the guy breathe, take a vacation and think things through before even bringin this up already and telling GSP to get back to him a couple weeks. geeze..
"take all the time you want Georges.. but give me an answer in 2 weeks"
how come at no point in the article did Dana apologize for the way he threw Georges under the bus in the post fight press conference? Its all rematch rematch rematch.. $$$$$$$
like Georges owes him PPV profit so he can buy another ferrari.
