DFW JR- Use Strikeforce roster for the next TUF

With the UFC absorbing Strikeforce why not have a season full of talent? Use TUF to serve as a Strikeforce tourney on who gets into the UFC or a viable contender. I'm not sure which Strikeforce division has the deepest talent pool, but that would get ratings. You could get some of the fighters the publicity you need as well. Think about how you could get a popular title contender for Anderson Silva or Benson Henderson. Who would you put on the TUF roster and what weight class? Who would coach Strikeforce vets? Go with that Dana! Phone Post

interesting.

Most of their fighters are used to fighting in one of the top organizations in the planet - why would they want to go live in a house with a bunch of other people who don't want to be there for six weeks?

Very little incentive for anybody to actually do this, especially since the general public's interest in TUF has waned considerably.

Interest down from lack of talent. A Strikeforce roster is full of talent. And who would do the house? A bunch of UFC veterans did for a season if i do recall. Look at the publicity also! You would start a fan favorite. People would recognize instantly Phone Post

Back on TUF 4, people gave a shit about TUF man. This is a much, much different time.

Plus everyone there was an established commodity, to a degree. An established UFC commodity, more specifically. Fans then, and now even I guess, put a lot of weight into the letters UFC.

A season full of UFC vets would do better than a Strikeforce line-up every time, basically, simply because casual fans associated 'UFC' with quality in the sport.

Enough people bitch about it. If they take the time to complain it shows they still care enough to give it thought. And I'm sorry, you would be nuts not to watch Luke Rockhold fight a few times for free. An I'm sure he wouldn't mind the exposure. Anderson wants a big name.. Phone Post

Enough people bitch about it on HERE, maybe. Casual fans don't know who ANYBODY is on TUF anyways generally, and know Strikeforce's roster even less. You mentioned Rockhold, I can basically assure you 99/100 MMA fans couldn't tell you who he is. Probably even closer to like 1/500. That's not his fault or anything, but your average MMA fan is NOT invested into MMA, they are invested into the UFC.

In MMA fandom it is key to remember one thing, before all others - hardcore fans don't move the ticker. We aren't the cash cow that drives this industry, and haven't been for years. Our pleas and opinions have impact, this much has been proven, but at the end of the day the driving force behind the business decisions in this sport are built on what will sell the most to the most amount of people.

And I'm not trying to bag on SF, or its fighters, by saying any of that. It's the reality of the business - hardcore fans account for probably less than 5% of MMA's overall business, if that.

And yet Ronda is headlining UFC 157. I think it stands a good chance for Strikeforce fighters. Phone Post

I'm ready for a comeback season. This is an interesting idea though. I'd probably watch it. Phone Post

these guys get paid way too much to place them on tuf...

you need ticket sales, live event tv money or ppv to justify the cost.  You can get guys who fight for 500 dollars on tuf.

I know that's why the talent sucks buit people still watch.  people watch for "let me bang bro" and "jiz sandwiches" not for real talent.  tuf "the comeback season" was one of the worst rated seasons on spike.

I would cry if guys like Healy, Rockhold, Jacare etc would have to go into some shitty TUF house at this point in their careers.

Do it for a title shot. Most of them will get a UFC contract regardless, but let the winner fight for the belt. Phone Post

They should do sf fighters with bad records like Kevin randleman I'd love to see him in ufc but 17-16 won't get u In the ufc Phone Post

What about having these guys on and scrapping the house?
Even if they are in the house, wouldn't it not be so bad since they're all non-retard adults? Maybe the house would end up being very cool. A bunch of established, decent dudes.

Either way it is an opportunity for some fighters to gain publicity vs. guys just entering the UFC quietly. Also solve the talent issue. I would be forced from any activity to watching that season. Phone Post

I honestly thought there might be more interest in this Phone Post

John Clarke - interesting.

Interesting in an insulting way.

Strikeforce is full of professional fighters with professional records. These guys TRANE the guys we watch in the UFC. They work out at the same gyms, belong to the same teams, have the same coaches. Sacrifice the same sweat and tears.

Now we want them to go a reality TV show like noobs with no experience?

That's insulting. And it shows that some people really never appreciated the talent pool @ Strikeforce.

I've always appreciated Strikeforce, that's why I pay extra money for Showtime. But it's an idea for UFC to bolster ratings. Jut like Sonnen and Jones Phone Post
