UFC President Dana White recently sat down with MidddleEasy, and talked Nick Diaz, who is currently scheduled to fight George St. Pierre for the Welterweight championship of the world at UFC 158 on March 16, 2013, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

"This is a fight that he wanted," said White. He really wanted this fight bad. And Georges St-Pierre called him out. He's getting it. I expect Diaz to be there. Nick Diaz does not return my calls or texts. Nothing. It's Nick Diaz. He doesn't have to call me, he doesn't have to text me. But he needs to show up to the press conference."
"I would be blown away if he did it twice. It just would not be a good move. The thing about Nick Diaz is that Nick Diaz shows up for fights. Nick Diaz shows up and fights his ass off. He is not a big fan of the pre-fight promotion, but you have to do it. Whether you're Nick Diaz, Anderson Silva or whoever you are -- it's in your contract."
"You can actually be cut. We can cut you for that. How fun would the press conferences be if nobody f------ showed up but me? It wouldn't be too good. I've proved that you be punished if you don't show up for those things. You either won't fight the big fight that you were supposed to fight or you'll be cut.
UFC President Dana White recently sat down with MidddleEasy
This wasn't an interview. I'm pretty sure Dana was the only one sitting. It was a media scrum, and his comments weren't said exclusively to Middle Easy.
After GSP, cut him and leave him to the smaller shows, he clearly can't be bothered!
And before people say 'Diaz can do what he wants, he doesn't have to suck up to the boss and attend press conferences and promote a fight"....it's in his contract to do so, so yeah, he does, if he didn't want to, he should go fight in the lower leagues
nick diaz nut hugger - He shows up to fight. Who gives a fuck if he answers the phone all the time or at all? Isn't that what voicemail is for?
Voicemail is for when you're not home, but he's calling Nicks cellphone. Cellphones are for when you're not home, so you wouldn't use voicemail. Your argument is invalid.
If we're in a meeting or you're in my class and you whip out your ringing cell phone and answer it, I don't care who you are, you can GTFO.
Yes, mobiles have voice mail. Think Nick's got his hooked up to a headset when he's training or doing a triathlon or some shit?
Fucking hilarous headline. Love Nick, dont care one way or another about the antics.
Why is nick in ufc? 3 reasons. Money from his fights, fan base that is fanatical, lastly because he is Lauzon-esqe in that his fights are really fucking exciting.
Nick isnt going anywhere unless one of those 3 things change.
Billytk - I don't care that Nick doesn't answer Dana's calls, I don't blame him I wouldn't want my boss calling me at home when I'm off work either, BUT if the calls are regarding the upcoming fight then Nick should at least call back when he can otherwise the UFC should take him out of the main event fight since blindly trusting him to show up has proven to be a bad move for others
He shows up to fight. Dana shouldn't even have his cell phone number. He should have Cesar's cell phone number. Problem fucking solved.
it seems so simple, hard to comprehend why it's even an issue
