DFW: OSP fought on with a broken arm

^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS!!!!!

Problem is, probably half of the individuals on this forum have never competed in any sport above pop warner or little league. I feel fairly confident in saying they have never trained in a martial art or have had serious injuries (broken bones, torn ligaments, ACLs etc). I would also say most have not competed with these type of injuries.

It's impossible for them to understand the significance of being able to fight a couple of rounds with a broken arm against another world class fighter. To be more specific "The best light heavy of all time".

OSP is a tough dude and fighting with a broken arm for two rounds deserves recognition. I have no issues with Dana giving him this recognition for being tough.

GROUNDnLB - I told my buddies I was waiting for an article to come about about Dana 'explaining' what happened with OSP. So laughably predictable at this point. Phone Post 3.0
OSP did fucking phenomenol against the best lhw ever, esp considering he had 3 weeks notice.

To fight two rounds with a broken arm gives him even more credit.

Dana was just giving him props for being a tough fucker. Phone Post 3.0

But Dana said it. That means its evil and very ill intended.
Agree or you're a SHILL!!!!!!

That "fight" was a pre-arrganged sparring match, nothing more. An agreement was made to just "go easy." Jones gets his win plus 5 rounds in, OSP doesn't kill him brand by getting devastatingly defeated, rather he looks like the hero for stepping up.

OSP agreed to have his arm broken in the process? Phone Post 3.0

He acted like his arm was broke from the opening bell. He threw zero punches and just ran away the entire fight. I read Dana say that OSP fought the last 2 rounds with a broken arm, yet that does nothing to explain his lack of aggression throughout the entire fight.

OSP was one of the worst main event fighters I have ever seen fight. He was that fucking terrible. He might have made Kimbo look technical.

(In my best Schaub voice) I disagree

I mean no disrespect JCB

It looked as tho he was caught under the weight of the situation. pressure bust pipes. it can make or break a fighters mentality.

I respect OSP for stepping up. period.

But it looked exactly like a fighter unsure of himself on 3 weeks notice going against arguably the best fighter on the planet and he just never was able to go from "Im not gonna win" to "I have nothing to lose" It was purely a mental thing from what I saw and thought.

Now why Jones took 5 rounds to win and not make a statement against that type of fighter, who knows. Did he just want cage time? Was HE scared of getting clipped like Shogun? BJ said it best about his fight with Diego. "A good fighter would win this fight. A great fighter would finish it." and he kicked the ever loving fuck out of him and put a wound on his brow that looked like he was hit with an axe. Anyway, Massive respect to OSP. He did what he could with his mind, body, and soul.

No disrespect taken at all. The only thing that could explain OSP's awful performance was a mental breakdown. I understand he may have sustained an injury by the 4th or 5th round, but prior to that he fought the same exact way.

He never put his hands up, never threw a jab, never threw a leg kick, never properly countered anything. The base of his offense seemed to be slapping at Jon Jones's wrists and badly flinching at anything Jones's did.

He looked so punch shy in there I was wondering if he ever sparred, it was just bizarre. Jones's is not known to be this devastating offensive power house, yet OSP looked like Frank Bruno in his fight against Tyson. Petrified.

I am only mildly serious when I suggest it was a pre-arranged sparring match. It certainly looked like one. OSP looked like he had no desire to compete and potentially win an interim title, that is just shocking to me. He had NOTHING to lose and everything to gain.

At the end, he was able to "survive" and not really hurt his brand, since he didn't really train and technically "went the distance" while Jones was able to dance around and go 5 rounds.

The whole thing "felt" like a pre-arranged light sparring match, i.e., Vitor Belfort vs. Joe Ghetto Man Charles, years and years ago. It has happened in the UFC before, albeit rare, but it does happen. Guys just decide NOT to do this or that. This fight seemed like it "could" be one of those situations. Win Win for both fighters.

Jones lost in there to many fans. His stock dropped like $.20 hooker panties. To be out for 15 months not due to injury and come back worse than when you left shows a complete lack of dedication to me. Anyway, you make good points and thanks for reminding me of Belfort/Charles. I feel old and dated as hell now. Salute. :)

There's a difference between fighting with a broken arm and getting your arm broken in a fight.
