In a recent interview with ESPN.co.uk, UFC President Dana White explained who he thinks the three best fighters in MMA are, in order.

Q" "GSP, is he still your number 2?"

Dana White: "[Georges St-Pierre] is my number two.

"Jon Jones is getting there. I think Jon Jones proved a lot to a lot of people in that fight (vs. Vitor Belfort). Staying in that armbar, popping out of it like he wasn't even in an armbar, continuing to fight the way that he did, kept himself together mentally. He came a long way.

"My thing is, I don't ever give Jon Jones the huge ... these other guys, Anderson Silva's been doing it since 2005 in the UFC, Georges St. Pierre's been doing it forever. Jon Jones has been on a tear for a year and a half. He's had some problems.

"Time will tell. We'll see what happens, where he ends up. At the rate he's going, he's on his way to number one and possibly going down as one of the greatest ever, too."

Q: "Do you see him one day surpassing Anderson Silva?"

DFW: "He so young, that's the thing. If Anderson Silva wasn't the freak of nature that he is, and the guys's still 38 years old doing what he is doing.

"But Jon Jones has... forever."

No, we know better than DFW...Jones is #1....hes GOAT!

UG Jones nut huggers Phone Post

JDS had to be #4

until jones has a black belt from nog he can never be #1

I don´t get this P4P thing. What if JJ had tapped to Vitor? Would he be anywhere near AS? I think his chances winning would still be the same.
It´s difficult to know when the there are so few fights. Even worse when there are fighters who have not lost to anyone (yet).

This P4P talk is too theoretical.

Agreed...maybe switch jones and GSP Phone Post

This.

Cindy

Jones passed GSP at this point. St Pierre is number 3 I think. Phone Post

I have it

1. Jones

2. Silva

3. GSP

Really Kirik?! With all due respect man, I gotta disagree...
Im not sayin bones wont one day take that #1 spot. But Andy is the p4p king at this point. His records, his win streak, the way he wins...hes the GOAT. Phone Post

This.
I have to respectfully disagree with you kirik. I believe at this point in time silva is still #1.
I think after silva retires, if he doesnt fight jones, then jones will eventually pass him by. But at this point, legacy vs legacy its gotta be silva. Jones has done a lot in his career already but not enough to be called the greatest. Phone Post

Remember when Dana had Frankie Edgar at number two?

Jones, Silva then GSP.

Awesomestprimedmybung -

I got JDS above Jones.

JDS only has about 10-15 pounds on Jones and he's wrecking the HW division while Jones is fighting middleweights.

This... The fact he will rarely if ever go into a title fight as the bigger heavier fighter is why I have JDS at 3 behind Silva and GSP Phone Post

No disrespect taken at all - I am wrong way to often to be alarmed when someone says so. Plus, if there is any potential disrespect, it is on my part for saying that AS is not #1. I probably deserve to be kicked in the chin or something.

I based it on how dominant Jones has been against top contenders.

Dana's number two guy is always the champ not named Anderson that has a fight coming up. In the past year, he's said that the number two guy was Aldo, Edgar and Jones. Now that GSP is coming back, it's GSP again.

I cannot put a guy who has THAT much of a size advantage over his opponents above GSP or Anderson or even Aldo. All 4 of them have been extremely dominant, shown extreme skill levels, and given us devastating performances.

Only one of them has been at a HUGE advantage of size in every aspect of the word. (BEEP)

The same "pound for pound" logic applied for me with Edgar but in reverse. I had him higher than most because he was taking on guys MUCH bigger than him.

Aldo get no hespect Phone Post

He get hespect from me good sir. I flip flop him from 2-3 between he and GSP in my head all the time. GSP's opponents and streak in the UFC is better, but Aldo is a fucking KILLER!!!!

Define "size." Aldo cuts more weight than Jones does to fight four weight classes lower and is a huge FW, yet you're here slobbing his knob.
