I really want to like the Diaz brothers... Are they ever not going to be complaining victims?
I don't disagree with him.. The excuses from Conor taking the fight on short notice, going up weight classes, winning the first round, etc, were there. Everyone's also been saying how humble Conor was in defeat..
Besides Rousey, every fighter is humble in defeat afterwards...it's like Chris Rock once said, "what do you want?... A cookie??"
stonepony - I really want to like the Diaz brothers... Are they ever not going to be complaining victims? How do we really know what's going on behind closed doors with the UFC though? I'm just saying there's a lot of things Nick and Nate have said over the years that have turned out true when at first I thought it sounded ridiculous

I mean a fight with GSP or Lawler? Probability of Nate losing is high... And that was danas first thoughts.. Just to be Nates advocate here
bmoney - I don't disagree with him.. The excuses from Conor taking the fight on short notice, going up weight classes, winning the first round, etc, were there. Everyone's also been saying how humble Conor was in defeat..Sure, like how respectful Nick was to GSP and Condit after his lost to them. No excuses or trash talk, just a humble acknowledgment that he had been beaten by a better fighter.

Sonnen y Diaz Bros - I mean a fight with GSP or Lawler? Probability of Nate losing is high... And that was danas first thoughts.. Just to be Nates advocate hereI'm with the Diaz bro's always but that's not about hating Nate, it's about capitalising and maximising profits on a fighter who will lose soon no matter which champion they put him up against. Do you think they want to waste this opportunity giving him RDA again? Injury or no, the first fight wasn't even close. I think they ought to take this opportunity to create the 165lbs division and take a big step forward for the sport.
We need more weight classes, we need less weight cutting. Make the 165lb division and put him up against the most marketable guy possible for the new belt. Stick that fight on UFC 200 and you have done good for the sport while also capitalising on the hype and casual fanfare Nate has picked up since his win.
175lb division also ups the chances of a Nick Diaz return, Lawler sure as hell isnt cutting an extra 5lbs so that fight is still possible for the 175lb belt.

IronWill -I don't think we should add more weight classes, that would only make things more congested and people would still be cutting weight as before. And if the Nate Diaz that showed up against Michael Johnson showed up against RDA there's definitely a chance at winning there.Sonnen y Diaz Bros - I mean a fight with GSP or Lawler? yeaso -155lb champ would remain Dos Anjos, 175lb Champ would be Lawler. Guys like Rory, Hendricks, Woodley, Lombard ETC. would be far more comfortable at this weight class, no chance they cut to 165. Guys like the Diaz bros. Will benefit tremendously from this. Nate has always hated making 155 and Nick has always hated making 170. More weight classes is not a bad thing no matter how you spin it. A 15lb gap between weights is ludicrous, especially around the lower classes. It forces a guy that's 170lb naturally to compete against a guy that's naturally 180lb. Adding a weight class solves problem and puts the difference in weight to an even 10lbs from 125lbs all the way up to 185lbs. If I had my way I would add more than just one new class.IronWill -No then we will have multiple belt holdersSonnen y Diaz Bros - I mean a fight with GSP or Lawler? Sonnen y Diaz Bros -What do you mean by congested? The way I see it, the way that 155lbs and 170ls divisions are stacked makes them congested. Guys that should have got title shots ages ago never got a chance because of the gargantuan lines that form while fighters on win streaks wait for title shots. Putting large LWs like Diaz in with smaller WWs like Saffiedine does nothing but create fights where the participants are closer to weighing the same on fight day. Lawler and Conor weighing in at damn near the same weight while in reality are 30lbs or so apart is ridiculous. Sure, you can say that adding more weight classes will make weight cutting more prominent, but weight cutting is at a place in this sport now where it needs to be addressed. The system we have in place clearly does nothing to dispel the practice of cutting 30lbs during fight week.IronWill -I don't think we should add more weight classes, that would only make things more congested and people would still be cutting weight as before. IV ban was a step in the right direction, despite the backlash. I think more weight classes is another push towards a sport where cutting 20-30lbs is NOT the normal.

IronWill -Just think of it in terms of marketability and presentation, the UFC is going to add more champions when they already have issues with PPV numbers on majority of the title holders? A lot of fans of mma don't even know who all the UFC champions are and mostly follow the stars that the brass pushes, so adding more only makes it harder to follow for some entry level fans. Look at boxing and how hard it is to follow with so many weight classes, we really only know the stars and the rest is for die hard boxing fans. Maybe a 125lb women's title but I think there just needs to be a push of guys fighting more towards their body weight, rather then add divisions to compensate themSonnen y Diaz Bros -What do you mean by congested? Koga -Conor wasn't humble at all. Made excuse after excuse. Which were ridiculous. Saying he took the fight on short notice when in truth, he had been training for a fight and he said he never trains for a particular fighter so that's a made up excuse. Going up two weight classes which we all know that's a lie and Nate is not a WW. And if you want to say he is bc he's fought there before than you have to call Conor a LW bc he's fought there before. So either way, he went up one weight class. Even had a bum knee with mendes after he got exposed on the ground. Doesn't sound humble to me.bmoney - I don't disagree with him.. He's the 145lb Champ. Let the man pick his fight.
Sonnen y Diaz Bros -Well if you're talking about marketability a 165lb title is perfect, whereas a 125lb womens title is worthless. You don't think there's more marketability in setting newfound star Nate Diaz up to be a champion than there is putting on Gadelha vs Eye for the 125lb strap?IronWill -Just think of it in terms of marketability and presentation, the UFC is going to add more champions when they already have issues with PPV numbers on majority of the title holders? I don't think the issue is the number of champions, but the marketability of each one individually. Was Pettis marketable as hell? Absolutely. Is RDA? Not so much. The fans will pick and choose which champion and division to follow based on each fighters individual star power. A women's division was a joke before Ronda Rousey came along and became one of the biggest draws of all time. No one cared about the "midgets" under 155lb before Conor came along. Shit, no one cares enough about 155lbs after BJ lost to Jens. It's all about timing and an individual's ability to draw. I think now is the perfect time to capitalise on Nate Diaz by setting him up to be a new champ. Sending him in to fight Lawler like a lamb to the slaughter does nothing for Nate besides kill his momentum. UFC needs to start thinking long term.

I don't see what's so ridiculous about what Nate is saying.
Their golden boy, number 1 cashcow and the guy who was meant to take the sport to that next level gets beaten convincingly by a guy who is anti-authority, has clashed with Dana in the past and is very outspoken .
Hocky Balboa -Legit
