Did Rogan just say....

Isn't that how Rocky Balboa works, the better in shape and the more heart he had, the more he could absorb shots?.

rolls eyes and falls asleep

Mitch Baker - getting punched does not make you tired. I don't know how I can put it any simpler.

If you get blasted by the first punch of the fight, get dazed and subsequently pounded into the canvas, your cardio WASN'T the problem.

Again, you're thinking of conditioning purely as cardio conditioning. The body/mind can be conditioned in a lot of ways.

I didn't hear Goldberg say any of this, I'm just playing devil's advocate really.

I totally agree with what you are saying here. I just feel fairly certain that mental toughness wasn't what goldberg was talking about.

You girls are so sensitive.

No you!

Well either way, I think people put too much stock into what Goldberg and Joe are saying. They're paid to fill space, and bound to say stupid shit from time to time. Any broadcaster does the same.

I would say getting hit in the face definitly makes you tired, esp getting hit over and over.

But Diego was saved by the fact that he has a great chin and great ability to recover.

And if your out of shape, getting dazed will sap your energy.

Hahaha that's awesome bro. You keep on at it, cause obviously you've got this whole fight game figured out and you don't need help from anyone.

hmmm, first time I heard that was when GSP said it on Inside MMA - I don't remember who he was talking about, but he said the better cardio shape u're in, the faster blood is pumped to your brain, so the brain recovers faster after being knocked against the skull ...hence you're out for a sec, but then, right back in the fight.

I believed it - because GSP said it.

so, if someone is knocked out cold, the better shape he is in, the faster he will come to?

^ No but if your jacking off and so is your friend , he will come too.,

I just think if your in better shape it will make you more durable during a fight, i think an in shape person recovers faster from a shot that rings their bell, not ko's them.

WHA?!?

just to recap, ones ability to take a punch is directly correlated to that persons cardiovascular endurance.

got it.

I almost think youre being serious...almost.

hash - The stronger your neck and upper back muscles, the better prepared you are to take stronger blows.

The problem with public forums is if people spew bullshit long enough it just starts to become excepted as fact by the clueless masses and repaeted... I give you this bullshit as an example

Endurance period... can include: cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance, balance, etc.

I think you are digging yourself into a hole... I understand your point about different people have better/worse ability to take a shot.

But by not acknowledging how training (i.e. improved balance/conditioning) can help someone recover from a tough shot, people are questioning whether you are playing with a full deck.

No need to be so black and white here...IMO.

Buddy Clinton who is one of my teachers, one of Royce's first black belts and a KOTC stand out, has always told me that conditioning plays a huge roll in "chin."  I think that Mitch may be getting a little lost in semantics here.  I've also seen one of Buddy's fights where he gets knocked senseless and wins by submission.  He got caught solid, went black and didn't remember anything until the locker room afterwards.  I guess it really comes down to personal experience in this case...
