Did you realize today how much you still love MMA?

When losing the Khabib/Ferguson fight was devastating?

This was a pulse check today. I think most of us now know that the increased availability of UFC/MMA and saturation of entertainment choices in this digital era leads to us take for granted the olden days of wishing for more MMA.

This was going to be our Fedor/CroCop 2 in the modern era @ 155 lbs.

4 billion was a steal..

Uh, not exactly

UFC is a shit mess right now and no direction, Lorenzo came the fuck up selling it for 4 billion! What a smart man!

Yeah cashed out at the right time for sure. They were riding on a huge wave thanks to Conor, Ronda and UFC 200 around the corner. Unlikely that 2017 will be nearly as big.

Of course the biggest fight had to fall out last minute. If WME started at UFC 200 just think of all the drama they have had to deal with in just the last few months. What's weird is Tony kept fucking w Khabib about his weight cut and then this goes down. Terrible.

PS - Did Woodley ask for fans to please still by the PPV? His buys w Lawler were horrendous this might be right there w it now.

spot on CRE, kinda made my day worse

It fucking ruined my weekend

Yeah, it barely even feels like there is a card on tonight anymore. I know come fight time I'll be excited, but right now, it doesn't feel like there is a fight for the WW title on in 16 hours.

They just lost their biggest $maker. The Russian market is the 2nd largest behind USA.

If the is no stars, we wont see any good tv deals, cuz nobody will want a contract with ufc who is almost as bad as bellator, they better step up at searching new talents and stars

You're not understanding the dynamic of the sports TV rights market right now.

Just wait and see. By 2018 a new deal will be in place

I don't think i'll be watching 209 now, Thurman vs Garcia on CBS should be good enough for me.

Add USADA and the looming Ali act into the mix and you see just how expertly Zuffa stuck that mismount.

USADA is a big credit to the UFC for network TV negotiations, they have the most stringent testing in all of major mainstream sports.

President Trump could veto an Ali Act for MMA.

Zuffa was seemingly hooking a friend up with a very fair price that has upside.

4 billion was a steal..

Waiting 4 months between decent promotion was fine in the early 2000s because you were guaranteed near perfection between pride and ufc (ufc being slightly inferior for mine) 3 or 4 times per year.

There was plenty of average MMA to watch in between. It was just not badged with a major brand which expects to be able to charge $60 Premium fee for an average product.

Now our premium 4 monthly show is reliant on 1 or 2 fights on a card. And if / when they fail.... we're back to the average show again.

UFC has always been against creating stars. But unfortunately for them they are too wwe orientated (as is the general fanbase (usa) and therefore the fanbase is determined to have their superheroes). GSP and Conor for example are business say enough to be building their own brand. More (like Tony ferguson) are learning) will appear and the deterioration will continue.

No matter what...i will continue to enjoy MMA but I can't see the quality that was there in the ufc a couple years ago when We were getting 4 to 5 amazing shows per year.

(Quality of cards I mean)
