Has anyone out there developed a difficultly breathing while rolling? About two years ago I started having problems where I had a hard time breathing and became light headed/dizzy after a very small amount of rolling.
I went to several doctors with no luck, it does not appear to be asthma. It also does not appear to effect light exercise, like jogging. Ultimately this led to me quiting Jiu jitsu but I want to come back. Anyone out there ever hear of something like this?
Is it possible you get tense or excited/nervous or expend a lot of energy when you roll? Claustrophobic? Even marathon runners can gas if they are rolling incorrectly.
dunno if its acid reflux, but my mother used to get it and would wake up in the middle of the night unable to breath.. you can get medication to get rid of it if it is that.. do you ever get it laying down? its the position of your body i think.. so if you're working guard, you're same as laying down on a bed or whatever..
It is not tension or nerves, I have been training for my entire adult life. I never have the problem when I am not exercising. After two minutes of rolling I feel a deep and total exhaustion, as if I have been training VERY hard for an hour. If I then wait 10-20 minutes I feel fine.
I have been to three different doctors, including two asthma specialists. All of the breathing tests were administered standing still, the last doctor I suggested the run test to, but she seemed to feel it was unnecessary. I am going to try a new doctor on the 26th. Hard exercise cause the same reaction as rolling.
also, how is your nose? has it been busted up a few times? mine has, and sometimes i just can't breath out of it, and i feel like i'm choking on my mouthpiece. may need to get the roto rooter.....i've been lookin into it.
i'll be interested in what ends up working for you. been more and more interested in fight specific trainer type knowlege lately. storing it away, lets say

Yeah, try starting out slower. Go with one pill as opposed to two. Give it some time to kick in. Also try to drink more water and stop wearing leather pants and a long sleve shirt (Yeah it's cold online, but inside the club it's fucking hot!!!)
You my also want to remind your girl (or whoever you pick up at the club) to rub your neck with your water bottle, or even ice (not many clubs have it though).
Lastly, dont blow your load on one big dance. You dont have to be that one guy in the middle of the circle that evryone is talking about. If you have game, you wont need to dance like Turbo, or Ozone... Just tell the bitch you do MMA and give her a bump or two.
Follow these steps, and I promise you'll have alot more fun rolling. Your welcome.
