Do boxers really punch like this in bare knuckle boxing?

Apparently this is how it used to be before modern british rules with gloves, to prevent broken hands.

I have yet to see anyone use this style in bare knuckle promotions.

Interesting debate, the age old conundrum, vertical or horizontal.

I’m sure the dudes that did this shit for life way back when learned a thing or two on how to maximize damage and (self)safety.

Nobody today would do it because they all train modern boxing their whole lives.

Would be interesting if someone came out old school in BKFC, but maybe the defense wouldn’t hold up against someone that gave no fucks about their hands and boxed normally.

Let’s set it up and find out!

The hand twist at the end may produce more power, but its definitely not the most natural hand position

Somebody should do test with hydraulic press and look how bones and joints holds up lol

Twisting the punch also aligns the body much more firmly behind the punch, reducing the “arm punch” generating more power.
