Do you support Russia in Syria? Assad keeping pwr?

What says the OG.

The air strikes just began today. Phone Post 3.0

The Obama administration certainly is coming off like they have their shit together. Putin is now aware Obama and Kerry are not to be trifled with. This will all end well, what could be better than our foreign policy right now? I dare say: nothing in the world. Phone Post 3.0

Not the way it's being handled - he's a pissant (Assad) but Putin frontin' like this is a battle against ISIS and people actually peddling that hot stinkin' garbage as "news" is fucking maddening. Fuck Assad and Putin with a pineapple (Little Nicky reference, to be sure).

I'm all for them solving the crisis and i support Assad and Putin full heartedly. Phone Post 3.0

After what happened when Saddam was pulled what would you think was the best course of action? Phone Post 3.0

The whole Arab Spring was fomented by America to destabalize the region. Syria is a Russian ally and America has no legitimate reason for any kind of involvement. Phone Post 3.0

This!

Remove Assad and some other corrupt prick will step in and keep the region unstable. Be interesting to see how Putin's stance changes down the line when his agenda has run its course. Phone Post 3.0

Obama wants the war agaisnt Assad that he couldnt get a few years ago when the US public told him NO.

Putin won't play games. He will fuck ISIS up quick. Phone Post 3.0

Russia & Syria have had a close relationship for a long time (as have Putin & Assad regimes), and Syria's hosts Russia's only naval base in the Mediterranean, which is logistically huge for them.

^ If SHTF with Russia & NATO Turkey could cut the Russian navy off

I am sure there are half a dozen other factors but losing their naval presence in the Med would be devastating if they were then cut off from the Turkish Straits

This is correct. Russia is allied with Syria. That warm water port is a big issue for them.

Our big issue with Assad is that piece of shit is closely allied with Iran.

Assad is a murdering dictator. But at the end of the day, he is not trying to export Islam across his borders, he just wants to rule within his own

The other options are much much worse for their neighbours and the rest of the world. Even FSA is infiltrated with religious extremists

Assad has American blood on his hands in Iraq. Fuck him.

bigsakimoto - Assad has American blood on his hands in Iraq. Fuck him.

so do Bush and Obama

If the US hadn't supported the civil war in Syria, would there now be millions of refugees trying to migrate into Western society?

US has no moral ground to decide which head of state in a foreign country to stay in power. Phone Post 3.0

Russia is staying as far away from isis as possible.

Russia will not engage isis. They are bombing the free Syrian army and their allies.

Lol Russia wants nothing to do with isis. Phone Post 3.0

The people that oppose him. He is a dictator.

What the media doesnt say his opposition ranges from ISIS in one extreme to just people that would like to impose sharia law etc in the other.

There are like 20 people who are true moderate rebels in Syria. And they have all been trained by us.

Al-Nusra is basically called rebels these days, because they fight ISIS and Assad. Al-Nusra is the arm of Al-Qaeda in Syria. So you see is a big mess no matter how you slice it.
